Crack in nav screen

I had my car washed, mobile guy so he's not going to do anything, and now the nav screen has a crack/cut about 3/4" in the center of screen, looks like a scratch but if I run my finger along it I can feel that it's a crack. It doesn't affect the image, has anyone had to repair this, I assume no way BMW will cover so what does this cost? It seems like there's an anti glare screen on it and that is what is affected. Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure that he thumped into it too hard when trying to dust your car. Do yourself a massive favor and wash your own car. I've had car washes have to buy me a new wheel on two occasions. It's not worth it and they will ALWAYS deny that it was them!

I suspect the same thing, I have a insured mobile guy that's good I always use, but I had some springs installed and they had a guy there that they recommended but he doesn't work for the shop just on their grounds. Sucks, I imagine this is of an expense level that would mean some bad things in his life so he'll undoubtedly deny it and I feel bad for him, I'm pretty young and have a nice car etc, seemed like a nice hard working young guy but near my age. Anyways.... Anybody ever had this antiglare portion changed? I'm hoping it can be done on its own and it won't be too costly

It figures they would make it a single piece, so you would have to replace the entire nav unit at a premium.....

I just called my buddy at the local dealer and the price is $2,391.47 and he confirmed that it is one single piece. That is a very costly fuckup to just let them get away with...

Since your car is still under warranty why not bring it to dealer and see if they willing to swap it out under warranty repair.Would not hurt.

Vehicle warranty covers manufacturing defects. A scratch on the CID is NOT a manufacturing defect.

Exactly. Lets avoid advocating fraud here.

I think dealers don't actually pay out of their pockets for claims. My friend at a Lexus dealership told me the actual company like BMW or Lexus pays so they don't mind doing it. But they have a budget. Go to a dealership that doesn't get too many customers. I'm sure it's worth a try. Don't lie... But at least try. It's much better than paying 2k+. I know the mobile guy wont pay him jack.

I think the warranty claim is worth a shot. OP doesn't know for sure why it cracked. There have been instances of 3rd taillight lens' cracking and sunroof glass breaking for no apparent cause.

BMW is acutely aware of the cause of the 3rd brake light cracking and stated so in the service bulletin.

The truth is you do not know how it was cracked. You assumed it was the detail guy. I'd present it to the dealer and tell them the truth, that you have no idea how it happened, only when.
