Think your RFTs are too harsh? Drop your tyre pressure!
My car came with Dunlop SP Sport 01 RFTs with 40psi all round. Since day one i've felt the suspension is way too harsh and i haven't really even enjoyed driving my car because of it. 7000km later and i still can't get used to this harshness!
So the other day i dropped the tyre pressures to 36psi and what a difference. Much more comfortable, the car stays flat and i can actually feel the suspension working to absorb dumps on the road, rather than just crashing and banging over them. I can only imagine going to non-RFTs would be even more comfortable but for now i'm happy to keep these till they wear out. That is all. lol

Used to have 40psi front and 44psi rear when I got the car from the dealer which rattles my interior like hell on uneven roads. Plus RFT have steel reinforced side walls, so will be good to run low psi. |

I drove my RFT's at 40 psi all round (dealer recommendation) until the rears wore out at 32,000km. The wear was perfect across the profile, which tells me that 40 psi was the correct inflation pressure. I'm now running non-RFT's still at 40 psi and the relief is beyond belief.

Monitor the wear on the inside of your tyres, particularly the rears, if you reduce the recommended pressures. Runflats are designed for 40+ psi.

When I took the RFT's off they were at 36-8 psi and were (roughly) 50% worn on both edges and 25% in the centres. That tells me 40+ is the correct psi, plus the chap at the tyre shop said he sees it all the time and tells everyone with RFT's to put 40+ psi.
Run what ever you like, but keep an eye on the wear!!! |

I'm happy to wear the inside of the tyres more, just so i can switch to non-RFTs quicker. lol.
40psi definitely felt over inflated to me. The car feels more flat now, like the wheels are sitting flat on the ground and not in the middle of the tyre as before. Plus now when driving to work my interior no longer sounds like its going to fall apart!
