Now that the car has been out for a while do u think dealers will give $2.5k-3k off the car? Anyone buy a 325i recently in chicago area?

In the philly area, dealers are selling at full MSRP for any xi and close to MSRP for the non AWD models. I'm trying to get a deal for $1000 over invoice which is about $2200 below MSRP on a 325xi and I don't think it will be possible in this area.

You can get good deals in NY & NJ. I got $1500 over invoice all the way back in April.

Great deals in VA/MD - $500 over invoice at most dealers down here if you go thru internet.

DeSimone BMW immediately accepted my offer on a 330xi in late December. The MSRP, including destination was $48,940 & they agreed to the Edmunds TMV price which was $1650 off MSRP ($2465 over invoice).

It may not be a great deal, but the Edmunds TMV is a good indicator of the fair value for a car. It was also nice to have a salesman who didn't play the game of "let me go talk to the sales manager and see what I can do for you" routine.

Still, come time for delivery that initial offer price still leaves room to negotiate

I realize your deal is already done, & congrats on your new baby... but for anyone in the process of negotiating remember that you NEVER have to pay what the dealer tells you. YOU are the one who controls whether or not the dealer gets your money, so make them accept your deal, or move on.

While I didn't need to this time, I've found that it's often best to make an initial offer over the phone or via email. The dealer will almost always agree to a lower price than if you were sitting in their showroom.

Should you be able to get the same discount on an ordered vehicle as one on the lot?? My thoughts are that an ordered vehicle doesn't have to "sit" on the lot and therefore will save the dealer $$$ in the longrun. What is everybody's experiences with discounts on ordering vs buying from available inventory??

Doesn't matter - you can still get just as good of a deal on an ordered car. Dealers just want to move inventory regardless if it's on the lot or has to be ordered.

It been my understanding that each day a car sit on the lot, it costs the dealer money. Every time I have purchased a car off the lot, the dealer tried to sell me the one that's been sitting there the longest. You can ask to see their inventory list which indicates the date the dealer received the car.

Bottom line, if the dealer has two black 330i with identical options, he/she will try to sell you the one that's been on lot the longest.

It is this reason that ordering a car does save the dealer money, but it still takes away from their monthly car allocations.

You're right. They would definitely rather sell the car off the lot than have you order one. But I think you still can a great deal thru an order. I ordered my car and got it for $470 over invoice. I don't think I could've done better than that with a car from the lot. Also BMW is a little different in that you can custom order you car with a plethora of option combos. This makes the ordering more popular with BMW than alot of other cars.

If you know exactly what you want and are firm, the dealer won't even try to sell you one off the lot. It's the ppl who are wishy washy and want to go home with a car the same day...

It just depends on what type of customer comes to the dealer. If you deal thru the internet sales dept (for those dealerships that have them) - they know those buyers are usually educated and won't mess around.

In the end - they would rather make the sale above all else.

Welcome to e90post!
Did they not negotiate more with you because it was a "special" order?

1200 over including all bs fees. About $2600 off the MSRP of $44K.

Just do it through the internet. I have yet to meet my SA or even step foot in the dealership.
