1st Mods Counter Measures installed

Just thought I would share my 1st mods.

V1 Blendmount and AL Priority parking sensor (Laser Jammer)

http://www.alpriorityusa.com
http://blendmount.com

I am now in my second week of owning my 2012 135i and these are a must since traveling at posted speeds is an issue for me and the 135i has no problem egging me on.

My last set up was V1 and Laser Interceptor in my fully bolted speed 3 which was totaled. This set up saved me countless times. Had the Laser Interceptor on my X5 4.6 prior and never a laser ticket in that huge beast.

see post:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1102163

The blend mount puts the V1 at optimal position and the ALP is hard to tell its there even when you are looking for it.

The ALP is way above the Laser Interceptor in regards to setting up options and uploading updates. I am hoping the ALP performs as well as the LI system as it never failed.

Why does the bmw climate control vary in location per model? Mine is in the middle!

It's based on whether or not you have iDrive. iDrive models son't have the radio screen and controls.

Cool, I have the similar AL priority setup.
I'm using one sensor mounted vertically in the grill, control module in the glove, external LED inside the centre vent, and same location for the remote module.
After setting up my AL priority, I had it tested with bunch of speed lidars including Laser Ally, UltrLyte, and DragonEye.
It was able to jam all of them. Great buy in my opinion.

Why did you use 2 sensors? Isn't it a bit overkill for a small car like ours?

Glad to here its working well.

I had no idea they could be mounted vertical and impressed that you are getting good results with one head.

As we all know two heads are better than one.

When you are being painted with the laser its being aimed at your license plate or head lights so with two I am just getting more coverage which will come into play at shorter distances, so no punch through.

I would be interested in a pic of your sensor location.

Is there anybody who actually uses the AL Priority as a parking sensor? That's damn clever

When parking in my garage it actually helps but was not the intended purpose. In the settings you can set the distance you start getting beeps.

I got painted a couple weeks ago by Ohio's finest. Lucky for me my internal laser detector said slow down and sure enough, the Escort lit up like a Christmas tree. I was doing about 85 in a 70 and no one in front of me, so he would have had me dead to rights if I hadn't backed off to 73. Eacort Live didn't have anyone post his location so that's about useless too.

Interesting device. There seems to be more lasers now than ever. Another reason I "forgot" to mount my front license plate. Let them hit a headlight. Smaller target subjective to deflection.

I hear you on the front plate, unfortunately the dealer had installed the plate bracket before I bought the car.

Driving using the force I figure one save with the jammer and it pays for itself. Ticket and insurance increase over 3 years.

I've been without a front plate with three cars over 9 years. So far the local constabulary haven't pulled me over yet and break my balls, but it's a matter of time. Lucky for OH we're surrounded by no front plate states and as long as you're not doing idiotic stuff, they give you a pass. Our local cars and coffee would be a goldmine if the local cops ran thru the lot since 80% of the OH cars are missing front plates.

Still wouldn't mind an active parking distance transmitter just in case. Just don't drive thru VA with it on I guess.

Control Box in the glove box

External LED mounted inside the centre vent.
This setup does not interfere with the vent function.
I'm still able to fully close the vent and also move the direction side to side and up and down without any problem.

Thanks!
I think one sensor is enough.
My friend has the same setup in his e92 m3 and we had both cars tested and it was able to jam all different types of lidars.
Probably not the best location if you are going to use it as a parking sensor.. but to use it as a jammer, it's a good location and I would say 1 in enough!

From what I have read and from Laser/ Radar forums you should have two as 1 is for a Motorcycle. Also from what I have seen these are to be mounted horizontal and level for best results.

However I wouldn't had believed these worked mounted like this had e82m_van not had it tested.

Good info here about laser jammers and radar detectors.

You're right, I've heard of those things too when I did some research before I bought and installed mine

However, since this set up allows you to just buy extra sensors afterwards and just connect it to existing control module, I've decided to test it out with one sensor first.

I've seen jammers where they make sensor heads for bmw grills (forgot which brand..) and they have the internals altered 90 degrees so the drivers can mount it vertically. From what I've heard (don't quote me though..), AL Priority shoots out circular aperture so it doesn't matter if you mount it vertically or horizontally.

I haven't had the chance to use it in real situation yet though. So I can only say what I've experienced from the test situations. But hopefully it'll function just the same as it did when I was getting it tested.

Would have saved lots on labor install if I did mount in the grill vertical. Had the bumper removed to have a proper install.

Been driving in the usual spots I see Lidar being used, but of course not seeing them so I can test out the AL.

Did you use the mirror tap to hardwire your Valentine one? If so, could you please send instructions?
