I have Z dummest question

OK, so I know that ZSP is sport package, and ZPP is premium package... what I don't know is what the Z is for

Is it French? "Hello, I would like zee sports package please"

Maybe their system can only take 3 digit codes, so it was ASP or ZSP - ZSP being the "cooler" option

*Shrugs*

In South Africa, our "Exlusive Package" (kinda like a ZPP) is coded ZEX

(As you can see here http://broken1.e90post.com/info.htm copied from the ownercircle site when my car was still on order)

Ive never seen them use that code

In the old days the system just added the option codes that were included in the package

Yea, I know. I was about to say we didn't use package codes, just called them by name...but then checked the page where I saved the owners circle "spec sheet" and it was there....ZEX - who knew.

I believe that the abbreviation pays homage to the lengendary Zinardi.

Maybe they copied off the Chevy option sheet:

Example of past/present Chevy option packages -

RPO:

Z06
Z24
Z26
Z28
Z51

(however Chevy has a history of turning these options into car names)

at the time i ordered my car, back in february, there wasn't any multi letter package anything quoted to me from my dealer.

it was choose the options i wanted and that was it. i dont know if we have such packages in australia. jaime, can you clarify? any other aussie member?

anyway, it was simple to just add the extras as aust spec models come fairly well speced in base form with leather seats as standard in the 6 cylinder models and on 1 of the 4 cylinder (petrol) models.

David, you are right. In Australia, there are no packages, everything is a-la-carte. I just went through the brochures I got when I ordered my car and the only codes are for paint and trim.

I think it is a better system because you can pick and choose which options you really want. Though our cars are comparatively more expensive.
