135I Vert

I have a 335i E92 manual coupe pretty much fully optioned, one of the first delivered in Nov 06 and only 58KM on it.
My novated lease comes up in October and I will re lease it as it is in pristine condition with low miles and will lower my costs signficantly with a 40% residual.
My question is my wife is looking at maybe a 135 or 125 vert as our second car. She has a mint condition MX5 we have had since new (1990) with only 55K on it in nearly 20 years.
I am leaning towards a Porsche Boxter (We do want a vert as a second car and my wife does not like the Z4 but I do!!!) I am unsure about the 1 series looks but it keeps growing on me.
If I get a porsche I will probably have my wife drive the 335.
Any feedback from the people who have a 1 series vert?
All comments appreciated but it has to be a manual...my wife likes manuals more than autos as I do.
Thanks

Look into a Boxster Spyder

But in all seriousness the 135i is a very capible convert.

Bit of a shameless plug, but I'm selling a 2002 Boxster 2.7 manual at the moment:

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars...aspx?R=8280222

Sensational drive, can't recommend them highly enough. The balance of the car is absolutely superb and the manual base model (2.7) has more than enough performance. Only selling mine because I've got a 135i coupe coming and I only have one parking space.

If you have an original MX-5 in good condition, whatever you do, don't sell it. I had one many years ago and I LOVED it.

Cadillac... I have one of the first 135i verts delivered in Oz back in May 08. Also it is 6SP manual.
I have just clocked up 19.5Km's and its still a thrill to drive. Just came back from spending the day in the Gong and its awesome with the roof down on the freeway and through the twisties around National Park and up through Stanwell Tops.

The exhaust note is awesome with the roof down although mine has a custom made exhaust. You should also like you suggested test drive the 125i vert aswel.

The only downside I have with the vert is that the body and ride is a quite rigid due to all the under carriage reinforcing and bracing...Although I am still running the original runcraps which I will discard once they have past their use by date and replace with conventional tyres..This will deffinately soften up the ride.

The biggest bonus with the 1er vert is that it is still a true 4 seater.

I am in Sydney like you..you are welcome to drop by a and have a closer inspection..

Good luck with your decission..

Yeah I read a review that sorta pointed out the the ride quality on a convertible is adversely affected for the fact that it's only joined from the bottom lol.. oh well

Garage List
135i vert Vs boxster, is apples & oranges.
the first is a 4seater front engined vert that goes like stink & the second is a midengined sports car that is one of the most complete drives going around.
As such, i'd vote boxster + optional LSD + PASM.

My vote goes to the Boxster S. One of my mates picked up a limited edition variant last year and it's a very nice car. If practicality is an issue I'd go with the 135i vert but seeing as though you have a 2nd car I can't see why you wouldn't go with the Porsche.

Bit of a price difference between the OTR price of a Boxster S and a 135i convertible though...even though there are some sharp deals going on both at the moment I'd expect the price difference to be in the order of $50k.

Hate to put it this way, but the 135i manual coupe that's currently on the boat is really only my second choice. If I could justify it to myself what I would REALLY get is a current model Cayman S with LSD.
