Questions on audio streaming and BMW Online
Hi,
I tried to search about these topics and I cant find the answer I need. 1) I have a iphone 4S with iOS 5 and I already paired with the bluetooth in the car. but how can I enable the audio streaming? 2) in the iDrive, there is one using BMW Online and Google Search, I cant go on those. Do I have to enable tether first? Thank you

I played with mine a bit while on ED. I figured out that if your phone is connected to the car via USB audio streaming via BT is not avail. Once you unplug it you should see it in your menu. Not sure about online, was not able to get it working thought it might be a USA thing.

Not tried the bluetooth streaming.....
But on the BMW Online front, BMW UK sent me a text message with a username and password to BMW Connected Drive. I've entered this into the settings on my BMW Connect Drive menu in the car. I've also found that if my phone isn't plugged into my iPhone Media Adapter installed in the car, the online access doesn't work. Once plugged in, I can access all of the BMW Online features once loaded up. |

I've got an IPhone and I listen to music over Bluetooth. You need to go into your phone's options in Idrive and enable audio. I will try to give a more thorough description when I get in my car to tonight, since I know it was tricky to find the proper menu.

Really? Obviously the Apps don't work unless it's plugged in, but the BMW Online features - internet access etc. are using the car's SIM, not the iPhone. Mine work fine with or without the iPhone in the car, let alone in the cradle.

Same here, dealer showed me when delivering my car, you have to enable Bluetooth audio somewhere, don't remember exactly without being in the car. The device might have to be connected as well before enabling that feature.

Can you tell me which iPhone you are using and what version is it? I already enabled to bluetooth in the iDrive. But the icon is still grey.

The BMW Online features like Google search etc require you to sign up with BMW premium services.

Another thing, how big is the music library on the iPhone? my other iPod never came up, it has over 5000 songs on it, my guess it takes a lot of time to load that kind of library... |

I fooled around with this for a week before I figured it out. I have an iPhone 4. Tried using the cradle and eventually gave it back and got my money back. I used the white iPhone cord and plugged it into the USB. Downloaded the BMW app and everything works great. I can play music from the phone better than if I am using the two pronged cable from BMW and I get the apps which includes the web radio which gave me dozens of channels to chose from. I listened to five different versions of ESPN last week as I drove home listening to different college football games.
I tried the Bluetooth connection for music (the phone connection works fine) and it works intermittently but as long as I get it consistently with the cord I don't care if it ever works. So in short all u need is the white iPhone USB cable and u are good to go. |

3GS with 3.x OS. Fiddled around the menus today really quick and couldn't find exactly which menu it was in. Will have to play with it some more.

I only have a Black Berry, when I clicked on CD/Multimedia, it shows CD/DVD, Music Collection, External devices, Tone, Bluetooth (audio). When I click on External devices, I can see my phone name with the Bluetooth symbol, I select it and it streams music from my BB to the car stereo system wirlessly. I just have to make sure on my BB I activate my handset, not the BB speaker. I don't know how the iPhone works but I would think it should be similar.
