1 Series M Coupe vs 1M and M1

Is it proper to say "1M" or "M1" when the official name is "1 Series M Coupe"?? The official name is rather long and personally I'd prefer something short...

Use 1M. M1 is reserved for a classic BMW sports car which may or may not make a future appearance.

Officially, '1M'

Although, amusingly, the filename for the price-list on the german BMW website starts 'M1'

yeah, but M Coupe was the name of that hideous Z3 M thing and its Z4 successor. 1M is a much better name as it doesn't remind of that horrible, horrible shooting-brake monster. Still not as good as 1M, but what are you gonna do...

Since mine will be a debatched one i'm thinking of renaming it /tii. It sounds more accurate no?

I kinda warmed up to the Z3M Coupe after a while. It grew on me.

I have the Z4M Coupe now and it is commonly referred to as the M Coupe. I think calling the 1M an M Coupe would be a mistake. It's fundamentally different from the other "M Coupes" such as the Z4 and Z3 versions. The 1M is much closer to the M3 if anything in terms if having back seats and having an overall look similar to normal BMW coupes. The Z3 M and Z4 M Coupes were radically different from other BMW cars.
