Plugs in under the armrest. Depending on what options you have there are 2 different models. I have the hi-fi 676 + combox so mine only has the sub. The other model replaces the Y cable (usb & aux-in). I have that one too for my wife's Mini Cooper. Both work great.
So this is the WMA3000B? Did it came with that short white cable with USB connector?

I think that's right. Which you need depends on your stereo set up from bmw. Looks like this.

I have the same usb/aux port in my '11 135i. Some sites says you need the other Bovee model with black cables one going to usb and the other going to aux. That's why I am confused but the fact you have the same car, same ports give me confidence that the Bovee with one white cable will do. Plus one single white cord looks better than the twin black cord!

You have to know what stereo components / system you have. I have the 6VC Control Combox so the 3000 works on my car. If you have a different set up you may need the one with two cords.

6FL USB-/AUDIO INTERFACE
6VC CONTROL COMBOX
639 COMPLETE PREP. CELLULAR PHONE USA/CDN 676 HIFI LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM

Also you never see it. It's under the arm rest.

I think the 3000 should work for you. Can you play by plugging in your iPhone via usb? Without the headphone cable?

Yes. 3000 in my 135i & the other one in my wife's mini. They work great. Can turn up & down + skip with the steering wheel controls (most of the time - every now and then the skip doesn't work for whatever reason).

One thing I have noticed is that on my iPhone if I have music loaded into the phone via iTunes the phone strongly prefers to play that and disconnects from pandora & I'll have to open pandora and press play again. Once I removed all the music from my iPhone it stays connected to pandora better.
