installing/uninstalling N55 downpipes

So im having my AR 4" dp's being installed tomorrow by an auto shop along with my jb3 stage 2. my inspection is coming up in june so i was just curious how long it will take to uninstall the ar's and reinstall the OEM dp's.

i have access to a full lift. but is engine lowering necessary?

I guess it would be easier than N54. The alternative is either install a DP fix or upgrade your JB3 to JB4 and activate the DP fix (auto delete DP related error codes).

If you have a lift it will be easy. It is about a 5-6 hour job. Maybe less if you have done it before. An extra set of hands helps out a lot too. No engine drop necessary. Just remove the midpipe, take off the V-clamp, unbolt the engine mounts, unscrew the O2 sensors, and it's off. Do the reverse to reinstall. I would try the emissions first to see if you actually fail, and then remove it if you can't pass with the DP.

It took me like 12 hours the first time doing it because I had a prototype that I had to insatll and uninstall about 20 times. I could probably do it in 3 hours now. It's not too hard if everything fits right.

Why does everyone keep saying downpipes on an N55. 1 Turbo, 1 downpipe, no?

it only took me about a 1 hour on my n54 so it should be less on a n55. leave the sensors in the pipe. slide the exhaust back undo the v band and swap sensors.. shouldnt take long.

Good call, save your time and effort if you can just pass with leaving the DP on. Also check your local laws. In the state of Missouri, I don't have to test my car for emissions for 5 years, because it was a new car. Pretty sweet, huh!

The "dpfix" just mutes the CEL from displaying with a O2 code by clearing it. The product is that when they scan for monitors, the O2 will scan as "not ready" and you will fail. The only real way to pass is to use a O2 simulator, not relying on the JB auto-clear. You can just swap out during inspection as well.
