By chance, Shannon's just rang me. Looks like they will match the best offer I can get elsewhere...

Shannon's wouldn't insure me either, asked me the whole 20 question but didn't give a reason besides that me & my car doesn't fit the criteria for their policy.

I'm with RACV, ~$1450 includes new car in event of writeoff for first 2 years & choice of repairers. Everyone else gave me ridiculous quotes.

it must be other factors like age and location.
Also with Shannons - they were $6 more than the RAC. Also live in Perth in a less than stellar suburb whilst we wait for our house to be built ;-)

$1137 odd insured for $85K.

yeah, Perth rocks for insurance. we're not as dodgy as those mofo's over east.

Phil, where are you located? I'm in Maddington. There's even a black 125i just around the corner from my place. Except its a guy who buys smashed cars, fixes and sells them.

A few years ago Shannons decline to insure my vehicle because...get this...it WASNT modified enough! I told the girl on the phone to show me evidence of this in writing in their policy - that they only insured modified cars- and she could not. I then asked to speak to her superior. The superior gave me a quote, but it wasnt competitive enough.

I am in Kewdale (just next to Tomato Lake Reserve).

I have had Insurance with Shannons for three years now, I had an Elfin Clubman, and they were the only people who were not asking drug money when it came to quotes (I had prices of $3-4K v $760 with Shannons), but yes you did had to tick their boxes, I had been doing a bit of club-level motorsport at the time, I think that was what got me over the line with them.

yeah, a friend got their insurance denied on their skyline as they didn't participate in any motorsport/car club stuff so they weren't classified as a car buff. All they had to do was lie. Although, it is a bit scary to do that when it comes to dealing with an insurance company.

They took my hobby of superkarting and visiting this forum as enough to be a car buff go 1addicts!

Yeah I've had my much modified but still street legal BMW M Coupe insured with Shannons for a long time and I've got an ANDRA race licence. So I've added and subtracted various cars over the years with no issues at all because I'm classed as a car enthusiast! That includes my 2010 X5 Diesel and stock 135i

Garage List
2011 BMW X1 23d  [7.66]
My renewal is in...$1,326 for my 135i. Think it's on par with last year's. Insured for market value, which they tell me is about $65K for my 08.

Shannons .. premium $1,041 for 2008 135 with value $65,000. Driver aged 43 with no tickets in last 5 years. Usage weekends. After that it depends on what postcode you keep it at!
