BMW Driver Training
I went to the BMW Driver Training Day at Eastern Creek today and have some excellent news. The programme will continue and will use 123d and 135 BMWs next year, albeit they will have less days.
After reading the stories that BMW were pulling the plug I quickly booked in to today's course and before the day I was disappointed it was only going to be Advanced Level 1. However what a day! I must have done at least 20 laps of Eastern Creek as driver reaching speeds on 190kmh in a 325, and then another 5 laps as passenger in the M3, driven by the instructor. An excellent day, and very happy that BMW have chosen to continue the program! I look forward to going back next year in a 135! |

Glad you had fun. I also did the same course and definately advance 1 is still loads of fun.
Good to hear also that they are continuing the programme in somr form, I want my wife to attend now that it teaches you a lot about handling a car and specifically a BMW. So no more M3 for the advance 2, which now replaced by 135i? It will be interesting how they will teach power oversteer when the 135I does not have a true LSD. |

in the meantime I signed up for my advance II course... wanna get in the M3 while they are still doing laps no disrespect to the 135i, it's just that I wanna see what makes the fabled letter M an M ... n on the track

Yes, one of our supplier has booked in a corporate day in March next year. It would be interesting though with the 135i as I would basically be driving my own car on track without actually driving my own car. I wonder what they are doing with tyres and brake pads. There would be plenty of torque in the 123d. I have already done the Advanced II, so not sure what they are going to do with us .

Trust me. Turn off all the driver aids and you can certainly power oversteer the 135. I had good fun controlling the oversteer with the throttle at my last track day at Qld Raceway. I've got little doubt that an M would be more fun at the track though.

I've done Advance II with the M3. Will the higher levels keep the M3 going or is it going to be 135i all the way?
I'd love to get into the M3 through some of the higher courses. |

there's 3 spots available for the Phillip Island Advance 1 course on Dec 3 if anyone's keen. I'm waiting to see the Advanced 2 course become available again..

If you guys can find out more it would be good. I don't mind the 135i - well... I have one so it can't be that bad , but would like to know what they are going to do with the suspensions, brakes and the tyres, as we know for a fact that the stock suspension wouldn't be quite up to scratch.
I have already done the advanced II, so it would be good to find out what they are doing with higher levels would be nice.
