Wrong. I can afford to buy either. I think the 3 is too fat and bulky, so i prefer the 1.

It's really very simple. I compared gas mileage figures for both cars on the German product data sheets at bmw.de. Look it up yourself.

How I look at all this pricing and 1 series 3 series are ok... If you can afford to pay the price for either one thats great. If you complain about the prices then these cars are out of your buget IMO. Both cars represent different uses. The e90/e92 3 series is alot bigger than the old e46 models it replaces. Also the new 1 series has almost the same dimentions as a E46 3 series. The 1 represents performance for enthusiats. The 3 represents everyday luxury and performance. Its all about your driving habits and what you can afford.

I have driven a 1 in Germany last August and the 335 and the handling is a day and night difference! Don't get me wrong I love the 335 but it feelf like a boat compared to the 1. Even if the 1 was more $ I would def get it over the 3
