Question Mechanics in Sydney

Looking for some recommendations please.

I was using Advan because I knew Peter was good to deal with and friendly, he would let you in the shop for example. Now that he has retired I am not sure if the place is still good, BMR can also be difficult to deal with, with parts taking a long time to arrive.

I am happy to still go there but I am unsure of how the place has been since its under new management.

I'm tossing up between Advan and Hills Eurohaus myself.

Sounds like either will be fine for basic work.

As for tuning, it seems like Advan do JB4 and Eurohaus go MHD (where possible). Both will custom tune with DP and intake.

Any recommendations on which way to go?

I've emailed both asking for further information but can't get a response from either (Peter used to be rather quick). Guess i'll need to give them a ring when i get a chance.

Cheers

what mods on the car?

stock turbos? just flash one of the mhd off the shelf maps. no benefit in a custom tune unless you're on upgraded turbos. (assuming you want a reasonable amount of life out of the stock turbos)

been to both hills and advan. I'd 100% recommend hills and won't be going back to advan/BMR.

I have all my servicing done by Hills Eurohaus - very responsive via facebook messenger I've found.

Great quality service, excellent price, fast turnaround and responsive. What more could you want?

I come from the Subaru world where custom tunes were considered far superior and safer than OTS, so maybe i'm stuck in my old ways of thinking.

Had a look more into the MHD APP last night and based on my serial number it seems i require the 'bench tune' before they can apply the MHD.

Hopefully Eurohaus can do this for me? Still waiting on a callback.

I don't have any mods yet. Still undecided here, i was planning on doing a downpipe and intake, and possibly the intercooler as well. I don't want ANY drone though, i want it nice and quiet until i get on it. Oh, and as safe and as smooth as 'possible' (couldn't care less about chasing every kw/nm).

Thanks again.

Hey bud,

I spend a lot of time at Advan working with the boys and specifically look after the N54/N55 customers.

I carry A LOT of OEM and aftermarket parts in stock ready for immediate installation.

Please check out my "bits and bobs" thread and by all means ask around on the forums etc' as I would think by now my excellent reputation precedes me.

Also for those guys that are looking for hardware advice on upgrades pertaining to N54/N55 vehicles my mobile number is 0421 641 381, but please text me first time around after which I'd be more than happy to give you a call and answer all your questions in detail.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey mate,

Advan do indeed endorse the JB4 G5 iso tune over that of the MHD DME flash but for a FBO vehicle running on higher octane than 98, I recommend the use of the JB4 with a custom back-end-flash from Trebila Performance.

If you are only looking to install DP's/intake and use plain jane 98 RON pump gas the JB4 or off-the-shelf MHD maps will get the job done and Advan will load a MHD flash too.

FYI, Peter is no longer at Advan and is now kicking back in NZ.

Feel free to text me on 0421 641 381 and I'll give you a call to discuss your needs.

Thanks.

P.S. after looking at the build date of your 135i I see you are N55, so in that case the custom Trebila back-end-flash wouldn't apply.
