Issues fitting GTC wheels cx
Hi guys,
I'm just at Bob Jane. They've fitted my brand new GTC CX 18 inch wheels (staggered) and there's a real knocking coming through the front end. They're saying the wheels don't fit. 225 40 in the front 255 35 on the back Any suggestions? Last edited by Free_Willy; 01-20-2017 at 06:58 PM.. |

Where did you get them and what f/r offsets are you running?
I'm thinking about the same set up and in all my extensive forum searching have never heard of this happening. |

It was the clip on weights they use for balancing the wheels. After them saying "they must be the wrong wheels", they had a look on the hoist and could see the weights clipping the strut.
All good now. Last edited by Free_Willy; 01-20-2017 at 09:09 PM.. |

I don't like clip on weights as they can damage the finish on the wheel, personally I've always had stick on weights fitted.

I like that style and size wheel but I want them in Hyper Silver and they don't seem to exist anymore. : (

What a strange thing to do on alloy wheels. The last time I saw that was on a new Evo X where the factory used hammer-on lead weights on the outside of BBS wheels!

Do you mind me asking what type of tyres you have and the offsets? Im at bridgestone and the tyres im having fitted, they will not fit them as it will touch the struts Cheers |

Clip on weights are arguably better at balancing a wheel assembly because they installed at the farthest-most edge of a wheel. I personally prefer stick ons for the no-damage factor though
