Yes it's a bit worrying when the leafy suburbs are involved. I wonder how they get past the famous BMW electronic security deadlocking etc though?

Seems like it would be a targetted attack then?

Happen to my mate's GT2 - went into the house and just took the p-car he had 7 other cars in the garage that they ignored!

biometric scanner ftw!

Two BMWs were stolen in Brisbane this week as well and used in a high speed police chase.
All the kids did was break into the house and take the keys from the rack.

I am definnately going to install a key safe now for the car keys.
We lock the car and keep it garaged, but in most homes all they have to do is break a window and steal the keys then drive away with our cars, garage openers, etc.

Not a day for BMWs in WA yesterday. Apart from the stolen ones, a motorcyclist slammed into the side of a black X5 and the driver had to be cut out by the looks of it. The X5 looked like it had it's roof peeled off. The motorcyclist did not make it.

Not sure I agree with the logic of the key safe.
If someone is going to break into my house to steal my car keys then I prefer they get the keys without me getting into a potentially dangerous confrontation with them. I value my health much more than my car, so I keep the keys by the front door.

+1 Not worth dying for your car. Most of these DF's are loaded on amphetamines etc, so they'd think nothing of killing someone. They'll just plead diminished responsibility anyway.

When I had my M3 parked next to the X5 in the garage I once had two blokes walk past and heard one mutter - "rich c*nt" - ever since then I never leave my garage door open.

It's a shame people don't appreciate the depths we go through to buy these cars.... It's not like they grow on trees and we just pick them!

I just suspect the guys under this is somehow related to those arseholes who wash your windscreen wipers along canning hwy and thomas road. They literally flog themselves on your car.

I never leave anything out the front of my place so people on the street can see it. I have a few dirt bikes and cars and everything goes straight through the garage door and out the back as soon as I come home with it. My house from the front looks like some boring rental with my crappy 88 pajero out the front

+2 Too true, not worth the risk of death, and insurance is there for a reason...

A family friend was being held at his house by a guy with a knife and a crow bar for his 911 many years ago, he wouldn't hand over the keys, got lucky, and instead of going for the car owner, he ran outside and destroyed the car before running. Risky business, doubt they would do it again.

They only nick posh cars like BMW... who would want a Datsun mate. Yeah ive got it for good few months now! will bring it to the next meet sometime.

Any plans to ditch the X6 and join the GTR club? Give it a drive mate and you'll be amazed. I think I got Pauly addicted too!
