International Transaction Fee

Please be aware of the 3% international transaction fee imposed on any purchase/shipment from Canadian companies, like N54 Tuning (I thought it is a US company) and Redline Motorworks. The fee caught me by surpirse. However, the total price which I paid is still the best price. Just wanted to let you guys know when comparing prices.

Hey, stop your whining...us canadians have been paying more for our parts for years...if you can afford 3% then don't buy!
Wish we had more auto part companies with same prices as usa
It's the shipping, duty & taxes that kill us!!!

I am not whining. I have just wanted to remind people to include the 3% fee when comparing prices. Also, none of the vendors told me the fee up front and they all told me no additional add on fee to their price quote.

You shouldn't be getting charged anything as our accounts are drawn on a US bank so there should be no fees. We have setup our system so that Canadians and US residents don't pay fees as we have accounts and an address in the US and Canada, so I am confused.

I donno... It wan't us who charged that, probably paypal. I have heard of that once or twice before from a few people. I think its a specific credit card or bank that has extra user fees on the account and they do this.

I can tell you that we are drawn on Citizens Bank in NY, and Royal Bank in Canada so any fees charge by the CC/bank shouldn't really be charged.

I am happy to write a letter to your bank or CC company for you if you want to pursue the charge with them. Its not much but too me its the principle of it

I've just checked my PayPal account and noticed the charge was not came from your company (N54Tuning) nor Redline Motorworks. I will called my Visa account to find out what are they. Thanks for the information.

I believe it is a standard credit card transaction fee for currency. I travel to Canada all of the time and AMEX applies a currency fee for each transaction as does Visa. This should not happen if the billing is directly to a USA address.

I am glad that I asked. Here is the story ... I called my StateFarm VISA and to dispute the charges and I am very surprise to find out that it was my StateFarm VISA charged me the 3% international fee whenever I used my card outside of US. WTF:-(:-(:-(

I don't know whether they are telling me the truth or not since I have been using my card in Canada and Hong Kong recently and have not noticed any 3% international fee until now.

The good thing is that they waive off the fee for me this time.

I am glad that I called and asked and thanks to N54Tuning for pointing me in the right direction:-):-):-)

Glad it got worked out for you Like I said its not us doing it.

If you actually read a CC agreement its scary to see all the fees they have.

When I chose to pay N54tuning with my CC, Paypal showed me a warning that the CC company might charge a fee for international transaction. I didn't know N54tuning is a canada company. I instead chose to pay with my checking account to avoid the fee.
