You would also need the 1M or M3 suspension components to fill the guards and lower it like it, and the wheels as ian says of course. Reading their website they note everything as: (fits all bmw 1-Series E82 models except 1M) they also say that about the bonnet Prior-Design PDM1-WB front bonnet (fits all bmw 1-Series E82 models except 1M) Hmmm, what, there must be ~$25k worth of bits there, then it is still a 135i. |

If you look at the other thread on this body kit, you'll see that most people have concluded that this is just a 1M they used for the photo shoot. Also, Prior Design doesn't appear to have a good reputation. Someone on the 3-series board had major problems with them.

I don't think they can do anything about replicas. Just look at the CSL bumper, it was hugely popular on the E46. Personally, I don't see the big fuss. Several people have put M3 body panels on their 335's because they want to improve the looks of their car but want OEM quality. They leave of the "///M" emblems, so it's not really trying to pass off as an M3. I wonder how many vert customers will do this conversion? Probably not too many, most girls I know with verts I know don't care about that stuff. They just want the "fun in the sun!"

Why bother? I never understood why someone would go to great lengths to mimic the real thing. For all that you'd have to invest to do this, it'd probably be cheaper to acquire the real thing.

First off, for the one or two 135 owners furiously posting in this and the other thread about how excited they are for this kit, how about you wait till the company shows us real pictures of the kit instead of a debadged 1M before you mess up your pants.
Also, any 135 owner who justifies buying this kit (if/when it is released) by arguing that they couldn't get a 1M, to me their argument sounds like all the Pontiac Fiero owners who "couldn't afford" a Lamborghini so they bought a replicar instead: I'm sorry but if someone wanted the 1M they should have paid for it. There are/were plenty for sale. Just because you didn't put an early deposit or couldn't afford to pay a premium doesn't justify buying a replicar kit. At the end of the day I don't see this impacting the 1M's value or "exclusivity" much. So what if 10, 20, or even 50 (unlikely) people get this kit? They will have dumped enormous amounts of money getting a replicar and will never see a return on that investment. When they try to sell their car they will have to sell a modded 135. 1M owners on the other hands will always have the genuine article. P.s. I am also a proud 135 owner. I love that car and would never had bastardized it with this kit (if this kit even exists). P.p.s. The only argument that makes sense for buying this kit is to allow more room for bigger wheels/tires in the rear. The 135 is a pain to buy aftermarket wheels for. |

Lol, did you really just compare the difference between Lambos and Fieros to 135i's and 135i M coupes? ? Oh you're just a fountain of wisdom hahaha.

Dont get me wrong. I would love for someone to come out with a widebody for my car.
But it must fit 2 criteria. 1) Its not just a wider 135 kit (cough ER cough) 2) Its not just some 1M panels that I can myself through BMW I feel the same way about people who buy CSL wheels for their car. If im buying a kit itll be the Doerr kit, its always been that way and it always will be |

its an extreme comparison but i get what he is saying. I personally would not want my 135i to look exactly like a 1m and to get your car to look 100% like a 1m will no doubt cost more than just buying the real one. The body kit install with paint will easily cost 4K+ with the rear end, The cost of the kit, Exhaust, Wheels, M3 Suspension, other performance mods etc. The hype has died down on the 1M and i have seen quite a few on the market around 55k. I am tempted to sell my paid off 135i, part out what I cant transfer to a 1M and get the real thing. |

Lambo replicar owner: Dude, I can't afford a Lambo so I bought a kit to make a Fiero look like one. 1M replicar owner: Dude, I can't find a 1M for cheap so I bought a body kit to make my 135 look like one. I don't see a difference in those arguments, do you? If you want a 1M they are out there for sale, just check the 1M forum classifieds section. The argument that you can't find a 1M so have to buy this kit is ridiculous. As for your intelligence comment, if you are one of the few that are pumped up about a company that posts obviously misleading pictures of a 1M and then claim it is their body kit then there really is no point trying to defend myself against you. I've heard there's a dealership taking orders for 2012 1Ms that you should call. |
