Tire Recommendations

I have a 2011 e88 135 w/ M-Sport. Car currently has Pirelli P-Zero RFTs on the stock style 372 wheels: Front: 215/40-18 Rear: 245/35-18.

I'd like to stay with RFTs but am having trouble finding tires that exist as RFTs in the OEM size both on Tire Rack and at my local tire store.

What are people running here? I was planning on cost comparing PSS with Conti- Extreme DW. I've had great luck in the past w/ sets of DW on my m5 and m3. They have great performance for the price. PSS would be my preferred option if the price isn't ridiculous.

Thanks,
Josh

On this car I have been through: Pzero Nero, MPSS, Kumho Ecsta, Hankook V12, Vredestein Sessanta & Vorti.

Kumhos I had dismounted and gave them back. Absolutely shit tire. Hankooks were good, but too soft. Perellis were excellent, but couldn't find in the sizes that I wanted to try when I changed my wheels. MPSS was on par with the Vreds, but too expensive for what they offer IMO. I would really like to try the new Hankook tire, but happy with what I have on the car now.

Favorites were the Vredesteins. Currently have Vorti on front and Sessanta on rear. Next will have the Vorti R on rear and regular Vorti up front. Standard Vorti did not have enough grip for the rear.

Where did you guys find them in Run Flats? I haven't been able to locate RFT versions of either the PSS or the Conti Extreme DW tires anywhere in the OEM 215 / 245 sizes

Neither of those come in run flats. Why do you want RFTs? If you don't have BMW roadside service you probably have it with your auto insurance. Most people with no spare and no RFTs just calls roadside service if you get a flat. You can also carry a 12v compressor if you get a slow leak from a nail on the road.

I was very happy with the conti DWs, I do not like the hankook v12s. I never tried PSS because I've always found other stuff way cheaper on sale at tirerack but PSS are standard to which other tires are compared for our car.

Thanks All,
The tirerack list is the one I saw posted, and really doesn't have anything interesting on it.

Is there a spare kit option that anyone carries with them? While I'd prefer the softer sidewall and better performance of non-RFT, I've had the car for a little over a year, and already had a flat on one tire and now have a huge bubble in another... Thanks PA roads and potholes. I'm not really interested in sitting by the side of the road for an hour waiting for roadside assistance to come, and if they do and you don't have a spare what's the point? Do you just get towed somewhere?
We have a place in NY that we drive to most weekends, and it would suck to get stuck half way between here and there and have to figure out what to do.

Forgive me if I missed it but are you 100% set on stock tire sizes? 225/255 offers significantly more options.

I go back and forth.

I am running Nexen Su-1 staggered sets on both my 335i and my 118i. The tire is sticky, smooth and has been great wet and dry. on my wifes 328I I am running Conti Sportcontact 5, SSR staggered in 17" and they are a great riding RF.

For peace of mind, get the BMW mobility kit.

Lots of cars these days come without a spare and no RFT's.

Do they fit on the stock wheels without mounting or rubbing issues? What's the downside?

225/255 shouldn't rub on stock suspension, there isnt really a downside

Just changed from Pirelli RFTs to Michelin PSS (bought used right here) and the difference is huge. I carry a Slime mobility kit.

Running Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions in 225 / 255 setup. Good bang for the buck and tested 2nd to PSS for a lot less $. Check the reviews on Tirerack.com
Had Conti DW's before and liked them also, along with the price.
