'Distance to service' Rising?
started at 17,000km to service, was serviced at about 74,000km
i'm at almost 80,000km now.. and it says 21,000 to service (said 20,000) just before this seems like the most useless feature, and i might just get it done at 10-15kkm anyway anyone else experience the same? |

I'll be doing 10k km intervals on my 130i.
I call $250 cheap insurance(less if you DIY). |

Happened with my 135 as well. Started at 15000km. Drove for 5000 and time to go was 8000km. Took it on a long trip and time to service stretched to 14000km to go, or 21000 total kms, needless to say i didnt wait till then!

I just had a scheduled service - Inspection I, I think.
As I left the dealer, I noticed the next service indicator was 11,000. Seemed odd, but I was in a rush. It's still at 11,000 2 weeks on. Is this something the dealer can set manually? Anyone got any clues why it would be 11,000 immediatly after being reset - seems an odd number. |

CBS 'Condition Based Servicing' takes into account your driving style and is largely determined by fuel economy.
More fuel economy, more wear and tear, lower distance to service reading. After a long trip, assuming you're on a freeway achieveing good fuel economy, the distance to service will increase. It makes sense, as 1000km on a freeway is less taxing on a car than 1000km in peak hour traffic. In addition, 1000km on a freeway shouldn't see the brake pads distance to service reading reduce by 1000km as you wouldn't be using your brakes much. |

Thats explains why . For me; break-in service at every 7500km & full service at 15,000km will be fine. |

BUT i've driven 6000km AND the distance to service has risen by 5,000... most of my driving is highway (90%+), but still.. it's stupid, bmw is stupid. Quote:
i'll do mine in another 5kkm or so i'd say. ED: plus i want less dusty pads, they're screwing with my silver wheels, makes them ugly muddy brown |

My 123d wanted its first service at 30k (I'd done 3 oil changes by then). It wants its second service at 56k (I've done another 2 in between). I'll always suggest doing the dealer mandated services at the delaers but changing your oil & filter a couple of times in between. As someone else said, cheap insurance.
Cheers, Alf
