Garage List
2009 BMW 135i  [5.76]
Most people are using either JB4 or Procede for piggyback tunes which tend to make more power and are cheaper than ecu flashing. But there seems to be a lot of other options for flashes.

Haven't personally heard of Powerchip for the 135 before? With an increase of 50kw that's one of the highest increases around, so a bit sceptical...

276kw would be at the crank Richard so thats really only 220kw at the wheels. I would personally go with a piggyback tune, greater gains and more features.

DO NOT DO POWERCHIP. No support, member base or actual info on how the gains are achieved.

Vishnu PROcede or BMS JB4, most trusted tuners in N54/55 community.

Hit up adrian@vishnu, he's based in Cherrybrook and provides installation as well as the PROcede piggyback for the Sydney area. Extremely helpful guy.

I chose PROcede due to the presence of this local support and the fact that I valued its functionality over other products.

Most people go with a piggy tune. But there are some flash tunes you can also get. Like: Cobb, Giac, or send your ecu to a German tuner for a flash.

Here is my review of my flash tune...

I agree with the DONT USE POWERCHIP...

Had one in a different previous car for about 2 weeks then took it back for a refund. Utter ****. Service that i received was pathetic too...

I don't think there is a local Dinan flasher in Australia, plus it doesn't give much gains or functionality. The reason people get it in the US is due to the fact that it doesn't void warranty..which is not the case here.

COBB looks pretty good from the US reviews, but until it becomes local, I'm inclined to stay away. PROcede is just as easy to take off AND comes with the benefit of code reading/clearing. With JB3 you'll need the BT tool to clear codes before service.

Doesn't the new JB4 read and clear codes too?

Im interested in the COBB AP, looks like basically the perfect tuning device, and it's the easiest to use as well. Can also clear codes etc. Procede is NOT as easy to install/remove (requires opening ECU box etc. whereas COBB is purely software through a cable). I know it's not officially supported in Australia, but anyone had a shot at getting one here? Assume it should still work ok. I might pull the trigger at the end of this year when my warranty runs out- yeah I guess i'm extra cautious!

Yes the JB4 also reads and clears codes now. Living in Sydney I would be taking advantage of Adrian's knowledge. Both the JB4 and Procede are great products but you really cant beat having support in the same city.

Yes I believe it does. Was referring to JB3 that was suggested.

COBB definitely catches my eye, would jump on the idea if there was local support. Not having to open up the ECU everytime for a service would be great. Alas, it is not yet in Australia and I'm not willing to be the guinea pig

"Noobness" excused.

Yes, a MY08 would have the N54 powerplant.
