Muffler Delete

I have been considering getting a muffler delete for my 135i but not sure how loud/ how much drone there would be. I was wondering if anyone here has just a muffler delete (preferably N54) in Sydney that would let me hear it/ take me for a drive to see if I like it?

Ghastly. Don't even bother. Waste of time and money and it will sound like shit.

I'd say that would be about right.

Ok, my 2 cents.
I like tough sounding cars, I have an N55.
My exhaust was ctless downpipe, bmw pe y pipe and rear muffler.
It sounded like an angry vacuum cleaner driving around. It really started to annoy me actually.
The thing sounded kikass wot but cruising around, not so good.
I didn't like the smell of the catless system so I had 2 sports cats welded into the 2 midpipes similar to N54.
As a lucky side effect I believe the car sounded much better like this too, less raspy and a nicer more solid tone.
I haven't gone muffler delete so I guess I'm no expert but I don't think it would be a pleasant daily drive.

I ran an open downpipe which is probably a lot louder INSIDE the car than a muffler delete but it was loud enough that I wore earplugs when driving the car. I thought it sounded sick.

You should keep your muffler and just delete the resonator(like what bmw does with the PE/y-pipe).

would it end up sounding really raspy if I did that, what's the sound increase like?

I have no idea on the sound. But I bet it would sound way better - than a muffler delete would.

IF you want a really nice sound... buy a PE(Performance Exhaust). It is by far the best sounding exhaust for our cars.

Some sounds of my PE...

Not sure why you would want to delete mufflers?

Our weekend driver has a twin 3 1/2" system with full size centre mufflers and the biggest rear muffler that would fit the chassis and it is far from quiet.

When I get around to changing the exhaust on our 135i it will have as many mufflers as possible to fit under the car.

Not for me but my wife hated it.
It was loud when getting on it, which was good as it stopped me driving stupidly in the city or suburbs.
But surprisingly drone free when cruising.
Mine went; Catless DP, custom 2.5"(stock are 2.25") midpipes with magnaflow resonators, 3" muffler delete.

Resonators probably helped out with drone....hows the new car going?

Muffler delete on certain cars can sound fantastic. I did it on my old E39 540 and it was honestly one of the best sounding street cars I have heard. Just cruising around it was hardly audible but when you opened it up, the thing absolutely screamed. Sounded somewhat similar to an 80s V8 Ferrari. No drone whatsoever. It was absolutely perfect. Attention when you wanted it and silence when you didn't.

Granted, comparing what a V8 with mufflers deleted sounds like with a straight 6 is somewhat of a moot point.
