is the ipod adapter transferable?
so, we recently bought my father a 328i and it came with the ipod adapter. now.. he barely even knows what an ipod is so needless to say he won't be using it.
this may be a stupid question but does anyone know if i can just take the adapter and use it in the 1er? other than the adapter is there anything specific that the car needs to connect to an ipod. i'm specifically worried about the electronics/software behind the connection. will it still work with the idrive or steering wheel controls and all that? thanks |

so it's not just a cable that you can move from car to car then
interesting... nice way for bmw to gouge more money out of people with multiple cars... |

maybe i can talk my CA into just adding the software for a discounted price and i can just take the adapter and cable from my father... considering it'll be the second car we get from them within 6 months he may be willing to work with me. at the very least i can try... if it doesn't work oh well i guess i'll have to pony up the extra cash then...
thanks |

It will cost more to transfer it (remove, install and software update) than to order it from the factory. Plus, sales and service are totally two different departments. Not really up to to sales. |
