2 Months and No Production # Still?

Deposit was taken at the dealer on July 7th, still no production or vin #...can anyone clue me in as to what to do?

I am getting extremely frustrated at this point, it should not be taking nearly this long...

I realize that the plant shuts down for two weeks, but that is long over

I feel your pain. I put in my deposit on July 27th and nothing happened for 5 weeks. The dealer did not have any 135 allocation for August and come September, they still did not have any. They were supposedly trying to trade allocations with another dealer but that also fell through for some reason. I finally got very frustrated and I was thinking about getting my deposit back. When the dealer heard this, the same day they managed to pull some strings and got an October allocation. The car won't be built for another month which is frustrating but it was good to get the clock started. Something weird is going on with 135 builds right now, I don't know. Why would they take an order and not build the car for month and a half? This car has been in production for over 3 years, it ain't a 1M. BMW seems to be a black box when it comes to their build scheduling, the dealer doesn't know what's going on either.

I would recommend that you urge your dealer to get proactive and not just wait for an allocation (if it is an allocation issue).

Sorry for your troubles. What is your dealer telling you? I ordered my car July 8th and it took my dealer 1 day to get an allocation. It is currently in route and should be here in 2 weeks. Call your advisor, call his manager then call his manger. You could always cancel your order and wait another 8 weeks.

Thanks for the responses, so I called the dealer and spoke with the woman who deals with the orders rather than my CA who is on vacation right now. They said that Sept 1 is the start of MY 2012 and although they produced prior to July, that they weren't really producing in July an August. So, they said that BMW only gave four dealers allocations for September builds, and they were not one of them. Then went on to say that none of the dealers in the area are giving up the allocations. They basically told me to wait until September 26 (when allocations come in) and to cross my fingers for October.

I'm going to wait because I'm on the top of the list but it's getting really frustrating.

What your dealer told you is correct.

BMW basically did not produce during the late July till late August, same schedule as Z4.

The thing i do not understand is that, why only 4 dealers across the nation got allocation??? Hard to believe!!!

If she is honest, then you should be safe for the October production.

I left my deposit at early August for 128i with M pkg. I received VIN# early this month, and it is already en route to the States now. Suppose to get it at the end of September. Probably 128i is less demanding than 135i and an allocation is not a big deal.

Good luck.

Well, until you get VIN#, you are not safe to say the Oct production. Sometimes dealers just want to hold you for the moment and come to another excuse later. I think the U.S. 1er allocation is quite tight at the moment and no dealers would guaranty to have one in a few months of waiting.

Wish you get your car soon.

Thanks, I'm sure you're right. I did get a production number but no VIN# yet. The build week keeps jumping back and forth between the last week of Sept and first week of Oct. At least that's what the dealer is telling me, the "My BMW" online tracker is pretty useless for me at the moment.

It's also probably true that the problem is with 135 only, my dealer said they got 128 allocs but not 135.

It's actually 4 dealers in the CT area that got allocations I believe, but either way I'm curious why 135 allocations are so tight right now.

September 26th is allocation for November not October. We already have October Allocation.

135i Coupes are hard to get right now for some reason though, I work at a big dealer and we have 1 in stock and 1 for October production and that's it right now.

The 1 series is built at Leipzig with the X1, X1's are being produced as fast as possible and BMW can't keep up, the 135i is not a volume seller so they've kept the numbers low on that to allow for more X1 production.

Well, the dealer should know the exact order status now, such as 112 number. Anyway, seems on route for production soon.

I'm going to try to push the dealer into getting an allocation, I would be real mad if I don't get this car before Christmas of this year...especially it being winter and all, don't want to learn to drive the car in the snow

FINALLY, got the call from the dealer with an allocation and production number

although, when going on the site it says that the requested vehicle could not be found...do you know if there is a refresh time or something that would not allow it to go through yet?

unless the order was previously entered into the system it won't reflect online for up to a week. Also, don't be too worried that after the first few days the order online doesn't represent the one in your hand. For some reason BMW has this MASSIVE lag on their tracking system. For a global manufacturer you would think this process was much better documented.....

hey so I just used the automated number to check my status. I received my production number today, the 800 number said my car was "In Transit" how is this even remotely possible?

I have considered ordering my next BMW, but from reading all the issues that everyone has with doing so, I believe that I will just stick with going to the dealer. I am pretty high strung to begin with, that would really set me over the edge. Anyway, congrats!!! Maybe it's finished and it will be a wonderful surprise for you!

The site and 800# are retarded. They both say my car is still awaiting a shipping vessel when it should have shipped today. So I wouldn't put too much weight on what they say and just stick to talking to a live person at the 800# or call your CA. Unless I'm wrong and my dear car was left at the port today

My status says that it was scheduled on 10/11/11 for the daily production pack, anyone have any idea what this means?
