stock tires.. can we put on new tires and still keep the old ones?

Im not a tire man, everytime i replace tires its because I need them. Since im on a lease, can you put on new tires, and still keep your old(stock tires), and then near lease return time, put the stock ones back on, i dont even know if its possible, especially, with RFT?

Yes you can. Your TPMS sensors only monitors your tire pressure, nothing else.

Sorry "David9962000," I'm not picking up on your point. Your TPMS sensors will easily transfer to the new tires, OP.

I've actually done the same thing myself. I knew I would go through more than one set of tires during my lease, so I put my Dunlop Direzza Star Specs on early and left my stock runflats in my attic. It'll save you a decent amount of money.

It's important to look what the lease return tire-tread depth minimum is, I don't remember it off hand. Give yourself about 1000 miles worth of tread left on the stock RFTs, then swap on the new set of tires of your choice onto the car. "Bbadillo," please don't take this in an insulting manner, but the TPMS mentioned above are tire pressure monitoring sensors. Make sure you take your car to a play that knows how to deal with these sensors when you get your new tires on.

Good luck!

Great plan Op! And you won't have to ride around on the RFT "bricks".
Do it now. I think they charge you for tire wear when you turn it in.

I'm doing the same exact thing right now. My stock rft's are in my garage wrapped up where they belong.

As long as your turn in the tires with at least 2/32 or 3/32 (I can't remember which) you shouldn't be charged anything.

Sweet, thanks guys. Actually I have the additional warranty which covers small dents, cracks, tire wear, and rim damage. Thought it be usefull, my dads car which was under a lease took lots of dings, and they wanted to charge him a good amount. And the warranty covers all the tires even if they are under the allowed wear. Now all I need is a good set of tires. Im already saving.
