I rock the DWS on my stock wheels as well. Have summer tires on my VMRs, I love my DWS, though not as sticky as my Hankook summer tires, I feel in the cold they are far superior, and in the rain they are flat out amazing. So far have aobut 6000k on them and couldn't be happier. Yes they do make noise if they spin, like when launching the car or pushing hard around a corner, but I wasn't looking for a winter race tire when i bought, just a great handling tire that would be decently fun in the dry and excel when it rained or when we got that once a year light snow. I couldn't be happier with these tires, they do everything I ask and then some.

I presently drive a 2007 Z4 Coupe and that runs a 225/255 setup and have a 135i on order. Finally wore out the Bridgestone re050 runflats that were original equipment on my Z4.
I replaced those tires with the Continental DWS and have been happy with my purchase mainly from a cost aspect. They are not as sticky as the factory runflats, my traction control intervenes a bit more often in hard cornering than it used to, but the ride is a little better and there is no noise. I haven't been in any hard rain or snow yet, but the few times the road got wet, they were noticeably better than the factory runflats as far as traction goes. If I lived somewhere with a lot of rain like the Pacific NW I think I would love these tires a lot more. If I wasn't getting rid of the Z4 for the 135i I would probably look into another set of tires, maybe the DW at a similar price, and sell these. In the dry they just aren't quite as sticky as I expected. |

Can't speak to how they handle on a 135, but I was less than thrilled with the DWS on my MX-5.
I got them for fall/winter runs and they got through well enough in inclement weather, but I never felt "confident" in them. The handling was average and cornering was always an adventure. If you ever saw the really old cartoons where the cars had the big balloon tires making the car bounce, that kind of nails it. The Miata just never tracked right on the Contis and I couldn't wait to get the Potenzas back on every spring. |

I have these tires and I could not be happier, yes they are not as sticky as a summer tire, but I prefer to lose that stickiness and add the ride comfort and versatility they offer. I just tried them the other day in the snow and I was super impressed, also in the rain they are phenomenal. I definitely recommend this type of tire for people that live in areas that occasionally have snow and don’t want to have 2 sets of tires. If you live in an area that does not get any snow then I would definitely recommend DW’s.

Are these tires (Continental DWS) Run Flats? I was quoted by a local tire shop and they said that they are Run Flats? If they are not Run Flats what tires would you recommend?

I have them for occsional snow here in Albuquerque. No they are not run flats. They are not really sport car tires either but they are a good all season tire.
