Montego Blue VS Lemans Blue

I see that now the Lemans Blue is offered in the sport package, but I thought the two colors were the same? Does anyone have any comparison pics that they can post. I've searched but they looked the same from what I've seen .

I've yet to see a good set of pictures to show the difference, but IRL the Montego is a fair bit lighter than the LeMans. Look around for a dealership with both colours in stock, even if it's on different models. I needed to see them in person to appreciate the difference.

Montego seems lighter, lemans seems "deeper".

Lemans is only available with M-sport, not regular sport, per the BMW website last night when we were looking.

Montego is an awesome color, I'm biased, but in my opinion its one of the most underrated colors that BMW has its beautiful

Le mans looks more "deep" and sportier IMO. Montego looks great as well, like if you took Le Mans and added 5% Laguna Seca blue to it.

"deep" in terms of darker, yes.
"sportier"? They are pretty very nearly the SAME.

I work in media production and deal with colors a lot.
Those 2 colors are a waste to time for BMW, and for their customers.
Instead of offering some different color choices, they offer 2 blues that are pretty much identical, one is lighter and one is simply darker.

BMW could have at least offered a non metallic blue, that would have been cool.

- then again, they couldnt charge us for the other 4, more or less useless blue colors they offer: One so light it turns silver in direct sunlight (water blue), one so dark you could buy a black car as well (monaco), and the other 2 so cheesy (forgive! tastes are different!) that you ll regret the choice after the 1st week. Ofc thats only my 2 cents, but if you really dont wanna drive a silver or black car, then BMW colors on the 1er coupe/vert dont make for an easy choice, esp since they removed sparkling graphite. Seems to be their politics on that though, they dont offer a solid green or red either (one too pinky, one too brown / orange). Sorry the whine, but i have been close to start a color-rant-thread for quite some time now. So, kk, dont take too seriously, it seems i've been thinking about my own color choice for too long already...

What you can’t see is the amount of purple that each of the two displays. In bright sunlight Montego gives off a light purplish-hue, whereas under the same conditions Le Mans shows its true sapphire blue sparkling type qualities with nary a hint of purple in it.

Maybe the two are redundant. But while Montego is very nice and if I had purchased a ‘08 model it would have been my second choice after Sparkling Graphite that purplish hue in sunlight kind of turned me off. It’s the same reason I turned down an E46 M3 in Interlagos blue, and instead tried to special order one in Le Mans blue back in ’06.

After summarily being told by NA to ‘take a hike son’ through CA’s at two separate dealerships, I was resigned that since LMB was considered by NA an ‘M’ only car that I would forever pine away my days on earth with unrequited love for it.

I will go so far to say that if LMB were not on the palette I would still have my Imola ZHP, and would have waited out the ride until the next generation lighter Super Sport einser model was introduced. Especially after they pulled the plug on Sparkling Graphite, the sweetest color I’ve seen until I scoped out the E82 in LMB.

So NA got at least one sale because of their decision.

But I do agree that a flat blue would be schizo.

I’d also love to see an E82 in Imola red. I bet that would really pop.

True, but Le Mans has more depth.

Montego reminds me very much of the R32 Deep blue pearl.

Both are nice, bright blues.

I think you should jump on Le Mans. It's the first year they offer it and I think its the perfect blend of the other two blues BMW offers.

The more I ruminate on it I think the left one is Mystic. Topaz was killed I think in '03, and was replaced by Mystic. Can't remember when the 1 was first intro'd, but if near or after '03 it would probably more likely be done up in Mystic.

Yes, BMW seems pretty challenged when it comes to Blue. They must have a dozen different blues in production. God only knows what makes them decide which colors to offer in which markets. LeMans and Montego are indeed practically identical. It would been a hundred times better to have replaced one of them with Interlagos.
