Dude.... WTF lux.....

You are receiving this email because our records indicate that you have purchased a set of LUX H8 or LUX 1 Series angel eye lights for your BMW from North American Motorsports this year.* It has come to our attention that these lights can fail under certain circumstances, causing the power supplies to become damaged.* There is also a very slight chance that when this occurs the LUX unit can damage your vehicle.

Come on man... I just paid to get thes installed now I have to pay to get them uninstalled then when I get my new unit I have to pay again to get them installed again WTF.... HELL yea I'm PISSED off!!!!!!!

Did you get the angel eyes? or H8 Bulbs? I thought the LED kit was just plug and play w/ the bulb swap? maybe im off base w/ that, shouldnt it be pretty easy to install/uninstall yourself?

Hey Everyone,
I want to start off saying that i never expected this to happen, but unfortunately it is something that is serious. There has been an issue with one of the power supplies, and because of the heat that bulds up inside the housing, it had caused damage to the power supply, short circuited, and then caused damage inside the headlight housing

The fix for these is quite simple and will be relatively quick as well. The wires will be long enough so that the power supply can still be hidden, and no modifications will be needed to your headlight, the headlight housing, or the car. These will remain 100% plug and play.

I wish this had never happened, but unfortunately we are taking responsibility for it and issuing this recall to prevent other issues.

Cost to R&R can be claimed under incidental damage in many States. Better consider or get ready for expensive litigation. Just a suggestion.

I'm just hoping nothing will happen between now and when i can get them uninstalled. This is my daily and I have a job. It's not like I can just leave and get it uninstalled right away. Talk about BAD TIMING!! Find time off work, make appointment, wait til appointed time and day come. WTF. I'm just fuming right now. And yes, I work on weekends too.

Usually I'm a pretty laidback guy, but receiving an email like that?? For a product that was "tested" and ready to sell? And then now I'm informed that if I keep using it my headlight might die? It looks like it will cost close to $2000 to fix ONE headlight unit if anything were to happen before I can manage to get these bulbs out, am I basically SOL?????!?

+1 it's really easy, should take no more than 10 min to take them out. the ONLY thing that might take a little long if you have no expierence is putting back the headlight cover especially the passenger side since it's a little tight fit.

Hey I never received an email about this...

Anyway, jzhang, your installer should swap it out for free. It's even easier to take out and should take only a few minutes, including the time it takes to put back the stock H8's in. This is coming from someone who has large enough hands to palm a basketball. The time saving trick is to avoid removing the cover completely...just leave them hinged in their slots and open them enough to reach inside.

that really sux to hear, glad i stuck w/ my WL cause i was really thinking about making the switch, hopefully they get everything work out, very scary

OP, unless you have Shaq hands, this is very easy to do but I understand not all of us are as good w/ our hands. Try to see if a local member can help. If i was you though, i would turn off the AE so try to minimize the chance of it happening

Bah, I can't go back to stock H8's. I wonder how long the turnaround for repaired LUX bulbs is.

The turn around will be quick, only a couple of days ( minus shipping time) The fix is rather quick for me to do.

Again I really do apologize about the inconvenience for everyone. The product was highly tested, but unfortunately through all the testing nothing ever happened. out of 1000+ power supplies 2 have failed, so thats not bad. after the modification there wont be any more failures.

More interested to where the power adaptor will be located? Based on what I have read, if gives the impression that it's intended that the fix will work because the wires has been extended outside of the assembly which may be problematic with the seal... Hopefully nothing will be hanging out of the assembly... I really like the LUX and what he had to offer

There are other angel eye kits out there which keep the power supply external to the headlight, and there are no problems with the seals on those actually. The wires that will need to pass in between the headlight and cover will be very small, so they wont affect its ability to create a good seal. The power supplies will need to be outside of the headlight, unfortunately its the only option, but this will not be hard to do.

I agree that other ae kits have that set up but that was one reason I bought this kit because it was all conceal inside. I def thought that was a big advantage over your competitor seeing that LuX was def not the brightest or provided any options with color options. If indeed that set up is the only option, I am afraid I might opt for the refund. I must say that I appreciate you and NAM quick actions in this matter and I def will not shy away from your future products!
