What was the ambient air temperature during your summer track day? 45C is 113F, which is still pretty warm. Wonder what it would have been with a larger FMIC such as ER, HPF, etc.

Don't be fooled into believing the more you pay the better something is. Sure Forge is a good product, but the others are just as good and cheaper.

Also, don't forget that Forge was not THAT expensive in the beginning. Initial price, a year ago, according to my notes were 920 USD. Still more expensive than some but pretty lower than what they ask for now, isn't it?

Spec R intercooler and custom hard pipe kit helped my car make 456/530 lbft with supporting mods with 23 degrees intake temp 12 degrees ambient.
It all fits perfectly and looks oem to the untrained eye..
Spec R used my car as a demo and as far as im aware will only make more once deposits for batch's of ten have been secured..
My build thread will be along shortly with step by step pics to show the work that has gone into making what i believe to be the ultimate "MUST HAVE" mod for the 1M..

Cheers Jamie

+51 F over ambient isn't very impressive.

AA sport is not on the list. I have one just have to install it this weekend after it has been sitting for months.

What you said back then was in my mind since sometime: Imran from Evolve was kind enough to check for me the weight of their FMIC against the stock: 6.6 kg. for Evolve, 3 kg. for OEM he reports.

Evolve seems to be really very light, maybe lightest, for an aftermarket unit. Stock is, well, plume!

Also, there is something wrong with that price you quote above, my bet you were remembering IC+Evolve R cable (tune) package price Or could it be the Aussie price?

I put the forge on my 1m very pleased with the power gain 432 as it stands now , perfect fit with no cutting of any parts and a very good build quality would definitely recommend it to other 1m owners

What tune and other bolt-ons did you use for this and did you have a baseline to measure a difference in hp?

unfortunately I didn't get a pre install dyno run done just because of the time scale I had on the day , other mods are macht snell scoops (you can tell a little quicker throttle response but don't think they give any hp gain) kn filter ( blown through as to not get mass air oil build up) and tuned by dms . Very happy with the power gains and delivery . Iam looking into swapping out the 4 cats but as yet not found much info on the best way to go and still be able to pass an mot with ease

So the power gain that you are happy with may have nothing to do with your Forge IC since you don't have any baseline data to support it.

Yes could be no data from before but you can feel where the power differance is and how long it holds full power , also could just be the tune, the tuners have done 30 1m's and he was happy with the dyno chart , you have to trust people sometimes I wouldn't expect a tuner to say there program is crap but the car is very very quick now and I am very happy with it , I had a v10 m5 before this and feel the 1m is quicker to 140 than that was but doesn't compare to a m5 at top speed

Trying to stay on topic. We're discussing FMICs and not tunes. Not questioning your tune as everyone will agree that it is responsible for 99% of your performance gains.

I have scoops too and the only noticeable gains are the increased debris in the airbox, so be sure to clean it often.

Did you install the AA sport already? I have one too and wanted to know how easy it is to install and did you need to cut anything?
thanks.

Installed the AA intercooler with not much fuss.

You do have to cut a little out of the front which was fine for me. I can always install a new plastic part again.

Been in for months and working fine.

My vote goes to Forge. Not only based on its performance(dynoed better than ETS 5"), but also on how well it was made(fit and finish is second to none) and the ease of installation(using OE couplers). And of course, no cutting required.

As long as you pick one of the reputable brands, you're fine.
ER and ETS are the most popular on our website.

Bit of a thread drag up, but I'm very happy with the power gain on my 135i from using the Forge FMIC (which is the same part as the one for the 1M).

The Forge gave a 16 rwhp gain on my otherwise stock 135i (except for BMWPE)
