Can you put 245's and 265's on stock wheels?

I have a friend with some 245/40/18 and 265/35/18's track tires that he is willing to give me (putting on some parts for him). Can I run them on stock wheels for the track?

You are going to get rubbing most likely in the rear but every car is different. The fronts are a little too small for 245's but they may work but you will likely need spacers and neg camber. 265's really need a 9.5" rim to fit properly.

It all depends on the offset of the wheel. I'm now running 245/30 & 285/25 on slammed KWv2's with no rubbing. There shouldn't be a problem running those sizes.

Garage List
I think it will work fairly well. I think they'll rub in the front but not the rear. But you'll want camber in the front for the track and that should stop the rub. With too much camber you'll rub the strut but if that happens you can pick up a 5mm spacer.

Even if you can fit them by using spacers and camber plates, 245s on the stock 7.5" wide front wheels is a terrible fitment. You'll have a very irregular contact patch in the middle of the tread, and the tread face will be convex instead of flat. I would never do that on the track... IMHO it's borderline dangerous.

Also, 235's look fairly bulbous on the stock front wheel, a 245 would look even more balloon-like.

Maximum recommended tyre sizes according to manufacturers on stock rims:

Front 18"x7.5" - 225/40-18
Rear 18"x8.5" - 255/35-18
