Great pic, I like how the color of the tile sort of blends in with the candy red wheels

Orange is the new black
Just got this epic pocket rocket about a month ago, and already Bringing My Wallet for the mods.
Since this is my first Bimmer, I'm experiencing endless waves of euphoria, and finding longer and longer routes to commute each day. I think I'll need to bump up the limits on my gas cards soon....I could seriously drive to the ends of the earth in this car and never get tired of a single mile. Only performance mod, as yet, an afe catback exhaust (which I LOVE) and in the looks department, I found that the stock alloys weren't keepers. Looked around for something different, not wanting the usual for a white car, and decided on these, which I find pleasantly loud. It's fun to watch all the rubber necking from folks I'm passing by.... Tuning prep is next -- carbon cleaning, plugs, coil packs, then tuning and bolt ons, going the path of Cobb...

afe Mach Power XP (catback)
Quote:
Yup, I took a few, the day of the install -- sorry, weather was a bit dull so not the best quality, but gives an idea of it. The first shot is of the OE exhaust, of course, then the afe, just for a more direct comparison. Added one of the afe itself, as well. The tips are a matte black, not the black chrome of the OE ones, but then again the black chrome on mine was pretty dull anyway. I like that these aren't "tips" so to speak, just pure pipe shaped to look similar to the OE set up, so at first glance it looks stock, and sounds fairly close to stock too -- not right up (can hear the deeper tone then, for sure), but say, at a light or whatever, the driver in the other lane isn't going to hear it, really, but then the afe just howls when you stomp on it, which is hilariously great. Love that there's no in-cabin intrusion, despite the aggressive note. I'll try to post up a video I made, of the exhaust, under the exhaust notes thread. I haven't done an in-cabin video yet, but you can hear the rich bass! I'm loving how it sounds, and the butt dyno is happy as well! EDIT: Posted up my video in the exhaust clip thread

Which one did you opt for? Was the install pretty straight forward? I see there's quite a few options, with various prices, but that one looks GREAT!

Installment is easy and takes 15-20 min. Just prep. the surfaces with a cloth that comes with the lip. Measure out where the lip is going to be. Use some masking tape to mark where the ends of the lip goes. Place 3M adhesive tape on spoiler lip and mount on car (also included) I used two rows of tape on the lip. Place the lip on your car according to the masking tape and press down. I secured it with masking tape for an hour or so. Buff it up and you're good to go |

Tuning priorities are first for my limited Bimmer Budget, but this is definitely something I'd like to have, along with the CF rear diffuser. Thanks much for the info on where you got it -- I see there are a number of BMW places offering it over on ebay, and for sure I think the BMW OEM version looks really terrific, among the various options out there.
