Washing/Polishing Exhaust Tips
I'm thinking about installing a new exhaust but before I do this I would like to bring my stock exhaust tips back to new condition.
They are pretty stained with dirt and grime...I tried using my heavy duty rim cleaner and it didn't even clean them lol and this stuff is pretty heavy duty. Can anyone recommend a good product for cleaning/polishing the tips? |

Usually any good OTC metal polish with #0000 steel wool will do the trick.
I personally use chemical guys metal polish and sealant with the steel wool |

Aircraft cleaner would probobly work and the a polish after. However you have just reinforced my reasoning for cleaning my exhaust tips once a week with rim cleaner so they never get heavy dirt. I also wax them ocationally. Keeps them super polished snd shiney like black chrome should be.

I am not too sure about any of it: the 128i has anodized tips and I don't think that what works well on Stainless Steel or Chrome is ideal for anodized finish, I tried one typical product for chrome from a autoparts store and it removed some of the finish, since then I only use water, soap and I gently buff with a old (used) Scotchbrite
