Specs...
TR Motorsport MT 1 wheels Front: 18" x 8.5" ET 44 Rear: 18" x 8.5" ET 44 Tires: 235/40/18 direzza zII all four corners. direzzas seem to run a little wider and it is flush with the rim. Suspension: KW V1 lowered to about half way down. No camber plates. With stock tires and oem wheels it doesn't rub. Dilemma: When I put the front wheels on and turn the wheels to full lock, the edge of the tire and rim are right on the shock itself where the coilover threads end. Maybe 1mm away but there are signs of rubbing on bottom of the spring( the purple ring that you can use to adjust the height of the coilover). Not really sure what that's called... This setup will only be used on the track. Is it possible to obtain a good minamlly rubbing setup for the track with those specs? Please provide your knowledge and expertise in the situation. Should I get a 3mm spacer? But it may then rub the fender? Raise the height of the coilover? Will camber help if I just pull the pin?... Thank you! A small spacer should help clear the shocks. The wheel and shock move together in your case, so adding any additional camber won't do anything to add clearance.

I took it to a performance shop today and it looks as though I will be okay with a 3 or 5mm spacer to clear the shock tube. This creates another problem. The tire looks like it will rub the point where the bumper meets the fender. There is a slight protrusion. He said I may have to shave this down, raise the coilover a a couple inches and get camber plates to move the tire in...frustrated Guess i learned my lesson about purchasing wheels not designed for the 135. Thanks guys for your input. |

8.5 ET44 is only 1mm different than every other VMR front wheel setup. Its because you have coilovers and the strut tube is much thicker in diameter than the stock strut tube. On stock suspension, there is plenty of room inboard up front. I had the same issue with my STI. Rebranded KW V3s rubbed without spacers inboard right on the spring adjuster.

Get a spacer, and don't forget to get longer bolts to match!
I have ST's (essentially KW V1's without anodizing) and I can't even run my stock wheels without a spacer because they rub the spring even with the wheels at straight. So it's great that you're not having this problem, but a spacer fixes it regardless. |

Car is at Hi Speed Motorsports until tomorrow when they install Ground Control camber plates, raise the coilovers and add a spacer. I will find out on Saturday at lime rock how the setup will perform. I trust that they will get it done!
