New Le Mans blue tail to tell
Still have some de-tails (pun intended) to attend to on the inside of the trunk, but I like what I see of the outside so far.

Though I prefer the look of the carbon fiber performance spoiler, this actually looks great. Any issues with water leaking into the trunk? Some people have complained about the trunk not sealing properly.

did you trip and fall while taking that second photo?
cool boot, but the third brake light seems poorly designed now.

In my opinion the stock lip spoiler is a joke. I endured almost 6 years with the same style spoiler on a ZHP, and I knew when I picked this car up at some point I was going to have to address this weakness. I was concerned when I pulled it out of the box that it would be too over the top. I am traditionally ultra conservative when it comes to mods. The farthest over the edge I've ever ventured was swapping out the stock side skirts for the Performance ones. And prior to that it was replacing amber lenses with clear lenses on the ZHP. That's about as far as my hair ever blew back. That is until this car came on the scene. But now that I have had it a couple of days I think the look is gnarly. The car now has an alligator tail to go along with the bulldog face. One really needs to actually see it in-vivo. Because in person it looks much better than any picture can honestly render it. As far as the comparison of the 3rd brake light I can't tell much of a difference. See the two pics below, the first showing the stock trunk and the 2nd the CSL. Although not from the same location I can't tell any discernible difference in this regard. They both are virtually at the same height, it's just that the CSL trunk continues on to a steeper grade. I even measured them, and each has 4 inches from the bottom edge of the trunk up to the 3rd brake light. So what you are seeing is an optical delusion. Thanks Sam! Coming from a fellow Cal Poly alumni that is nice to hear. Appreciate it. I like that bad ass descriptor. Danke! Quote:

And I will definitely take better pics after I've had a chance to give it a spring bath and full body detail once the weather is a bit warmer.

Thanks John. Coming from the "King of Mods" that is a real compliment.

Mike, what I mean is, the brake light stayed the same while the height of the lid where it sits got taller. This makes the brake light seem misplaced, and from a design standpoint, should have been moved/thought about in the process of making the new lid. It'd probably look better if the brake light kept the same distance from the TOP of the lid as it had before - I suspect this would make it look spot on.
just like the new 1M: the side quarter panels stayed the same, they just extruded the wheel well, which makes it look like an after-thought and makes the car look poorly designed now. albeit, i love the new 1M, but that's a design fail. make sense?

Looks great with it being color matched. Much easier to see the actual contour and shape of the truck. Thumbs up on the mod!

Ha-ha! I'm slightly prejudiced too, but all 3 of the cars in the stable are some shade of blue so every day I sing the blues. Quote:
I popped off 3 more, but I'll wait for the real closeup shots until I can get that detail job done. I also want to take one from the inside looking back out the rear window to give a perspective of what it looks like from the driver's seat.

So... is this "alligator tail" something you made or your body shop made for you out of tons of Bondo? Or is this an iCarbon CF trunk lid?
