one touch top operation
Hi-- Has anybody heard of a car hack for one touch top control-- i.e. touch the button once and it opens or closes?
There is a hack for my boxster and it is so much better than having to hold the button. Ric |

No, it's not that tough to install, the only "difficult" part is getting the rear headrest assemblies out. There is a DIY on it and the instructions with the SmartTop module are pretty good. Also, you don't have to remove it when you take it to the dealer. You can disable it via a laptop or in car controls (I haven't used those as I found it easier with a laptop).

I don't know of a way to have one touch operation other than the smart top. But there is a way to get your remote to put the top down before you get into the car - even without comfort access. If you have comfort access you can put it up or down with the remote. Without it, you can do a little coding (I changed three items) and your top will be down when you get to the car (if you remember to push the button as you walk up). I think this is better than one touch.

You should review this thread:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=coding&page=5 In post #106 I give the specific changes I made to get the top to go down with the key fob. MikeinAlexandria did the heavy lifting on the change but I needed one more change for it to work. Coding is not hard but is a little scary and it can be frustrating when you think you have everything right but it still doesn't work. You need a cable I paid $99 for and some "free" software on a laptop and then you spend a few minutes downloading scripts from your car through the OBDII port onto the laptop, modifying them, and then reloading them. The scary part is you can mess up your car. So far I haven't however. Getting the top to go down with the key fob is only one of many things you can do. I also like having the doors unlock themselves when I pull out the key, for instance. Jim

I have installed the smarttop on my '12 128 about 6 months ago and it works great. I can control all of the settings for the smarttop threw the turn signal, and I can Temporarily turn off the smarttop before it goes in for service! Takes 2 seconds to turn it back on and all of the setting will be back to one touch! Works great
