the BFG R-1 is my fave for sure now for an R tire for this car. I have been running 285/30/18 on all four corners on my 18 x 10 wheels. With autocross, this setup has me nipping at the heels of prepped race cars with race seats, etc. Very impressive placing overall for a street car.. |

Excellent result, congrats Neil!!!
I am a bit surprised by the 2:06 though. The last time I had my JP car (238 rwhp/2780 lbs without driver/Hoosier R6's) at VIR I got into the 2:09's in qualifying. Obviously I had more grip (and the security of a roll cage) but I was expecting your times to be closer to 2:03. I suppose it's mostly due to weight. Flat through the esses?

Heat was taking its toll on all the competitors. I, too, expected faster times, but our 2:06.xx was still faster than others in GTS3 and GTS4 cars. Neil EDIT: Robert was entering the up hill esses at 130 mph and was doing 116 mph before slowing for T10. Last edited by MDORPHN; 07-23-2013 at 08:28 AM.. |

Although my car previously had terrific turn-in, with the new aero and tires, it was pushing at T1 and at Oak Tree. I decreased the rear wing a bit and played with the shocks. Though it helped, it did not eliminate the problem. Next step will be to go square --with 285/30s all around. If the tail is too happy, I'll now be able to deal with it by increasing wing. Neil |

That makes sense Neil. I heard there was a lot of attrition also.
As far as understeer in T1 I've always found this to be a normal character "flaw" at VIR, even when the car tended to oversteer elsewhere. There's a lot of fluid laid down in T1 when cars first come onto the track so the area from turn in to apex tends to wash out front end grip. At least, that's what was explained to me by a local. It's great to see the 1M representing on track. Heck, between your results in One Lap and now this I'm starting to think it might just be an M car after all.
