Liking the Dunlop Winter Sport SP 3D
Called Gill on Monday to order Sport Edition 11 rims and V rated Dunlop 3Ds in 225/45/17. Put them on my 135 this afternoon and find them, even brand new, a very gratifying ride. They are marginally softer than my Star Specs (225/255 on stock rims). Not only are they not squishy, they seem actually to have slightly quicker turn in (perhaps related to 8" rims on front). While I have of course not driven all that quickly on brand new rubber, some cautious experimentation suggests that understeer is essentially non-existent, probably related to there being less grip at the rear. I can see why some racers and autocrossers have moved to 17" rims with 225/45 at all four corners. In any case, I don't think these tires, once they're scrubbed in, will significantly reduce the fun quotient on roads without snow, while the security that goes with good dedicated snowshoes will be welcome when there's white stuff in the offing. Thanks, Gill, for the great advice and speedy service.

I love them too! Gill, I know how dumb this is, but what is the optimal psi for these bad boys?
