Invisible backup sensor - Group buy?
Guys,
I know I spoke to a few of you regarding installation of a backup sensor that does not require drilling of holes and there was some interest. I am in the process of trying to secure a discount on both the product and the installation. The product is a wire that installs behind the bumper and does not require those ugly holes/sensors that you see. There is also a visible sensor (not camera!) that shows how close you are to the objects behind you. I am still trying to confirm details, but initially it looks like it's about $130 for the sensor and $175 for installation. You can take advantage of either or both. The thing to note is that to order the sensor I will require a deposit to ensure I am not out the cash if people change their minds. Prices are all Canadian (and inclusive) and installation will be in the North York / Thornhill / Richmond Hill area depending on which reputable shop is interested. If you are only interested in the product we could also arrange pickup with me. If you are interested in getting it yourself, it's: www.parkingdynamics.co.uk In short, please respond and add yourself to the list below if you are interested. 1. Hot Ride |

Like I said, these are approximate prices so far, and will depend on the value of our dollar and the duty ding as it's coming over. That said it should be within $10-$15 (up or down) of what I am quoting above. Knowing that, I think the front would be an extra $70.

watched the installation video... looks to me that they'll possibly need to drill a hole on the body to feed the antenna wire thru the hole to the trunk?

I am in for the GB... however, just to point out, there is a BMW version too, but its wrapped around the license plate. Mind you, that option is about 240USD, plus installation. I only question where the speaker will be installed, and how big it is...I would want as clean of an install as possible |

Looks like we have a few takers.
The reviews online seem pretty positive with no real issues. I'll be ready to order once I confirm a shop. I think a deposit of $100 should cover it (assuming you get the display and rear sensor) until I get the shipment. I'll set up a coffee meet or something. Looks like we have: 1. Hot Ride 2. Garduna 3. Ronster 4. mohammadz |

Sorry for the delay guys. I found a shop locally that will install such a sensor. They're a little more expensive (~350 installed) but claim they will warranty it for a year. The other option is ordering the one from above, but paying for every visit... ie. install, repairs, checks, adjustments, etc...
I'm planning on having it installed and will provide an update once I have it installed and a chance to play with it. likely a couple of weeks... |
