DIY: Lux V3 Angel Eyes LCI E82
Hi Everyone,
Attached is my installation video of the Lux V3 Angel Eyes. They definitely work with the LCI 1 Series without any errors. Hope this helps and clears up any questions about functionality. |

I wish it went that smoothly for me haha, when I went to put the headlight cover clip things back on one came off and fell down. Took me 2 hours to find it, had to take off the front bumper and finally found it. Absolute bitch, but only have myself to blame -__-

it was super tough for me... took me 2 days, a chewed up hand, and lots of back pain. i ended up dropping a screw driver and it's now at the bottom pan/bumper area.
how hard was it to remove the bumper? i figure i should get the screwdriver out. |

just wondering what comes in the box when you buy the angel eyes? is it a whole new set of rings or just leds? sorry if it's a dumb question, just got my 135i and would love to get these.

You get these... plus I got a receipt, some bubble wrap, and 3 business cards to handout. You take out the bulb in the light and put these in their places. They fit perfectly.

appreciate the help man. I just have one more really important question, would you happen to know if it voids the warranty on the car? because I read on another post it didn't but don't think the person was completely sure.

Prior to bringing your car in, you can swap them out. From experience it has not been a problem with them installed.

where the heck did you guys hide the ballast/power source?
I just left mine right beside my xenons and it messed up the adaptive steering thing that moves your headlights left and right when you steer.... I found a diagram that someone has posted but the area it points out to is too crowded with wires (atleast on my car it is)... |

1. Stick it underneath the actual headlight in the slot area 2. Double Side tape the ballast to the inside of the headlight cover. |

I have no idea how you guys so easily open the cover on passenger side!!!
On my '08 135i - even the clip on the inner side is tough to open - I had to push some metal pipes (AC?) out of there to make room to open clip. And after that - cover opens only by ~1 inch. There is just not enough empty space behind the cover! I can not open it completely to remove! After 30 minutes of trying I had bloody hands, and the cover was still in place. So, somehow I installed LUX. And no surprise - Adaptive Lights error I don't get how on the video in a first message it looked so easy to open this damn cover (passenger side). On driver's side everything is fine... Btw, silly question - there is a square box and round box inside of the light. Which one is adaptive "motor" thing? Basically, which of them is throwing an error when lux power box is touching it? Last edited by deim; 03-09-2012 at 09:43 AM.. |

I agree, the passenger side was a REAL pain to install. I ended up pulling the cover out entirely just to get enough room to work. Then it took me about 25 minutes just to get the cover back in correctly. It's tough because those two clips (bottom of the cover) have to seat correctly but there is not a lot of room to get the cover angled right in order to fit back in.
Total time for me took about 45 minutes, some of it is because I just couldn't see everything in the engine bay. I'll post pics of the BMS 4 LED install in just a bit. Inside LED as we all know is brighter and looks great but I really thought the outer ring would be a little brighter. |

Got it back in, the real problem was the hoses to the right of the headlight cover. You just got to study the angle of attack for the driver side cover, then just apply that to the passenger side with a good amount of force to move those hoses to the right.

Re-did my passenger side. It is good to be pissed off! :-) It took me exactly 2 minutes to open damn cover, and after fixing location of power block - another 60 seconds to put cover back. Hmm, I think I will never be able to do it again that fast :-)
As I guessed before - when I was blindly attaching power block (using velcro), apparently I did stick it to the top part of the cover instead of bottom. Moved it down to the bottom, and no codes anymore! |
