BMW Aluminum Dead Pedal Installation

Has anyone removed the stock plastic dead pedal before installing the Aluminum BMW part, or does everyone just put it on top?

The DIY section had it placed on top, wondering if I should/could remove the plastic.

Didn't remove stock Dead Pedal

I tugged on the stock dead pedal and it really seemed well connected to the carpet. I didn't want to create more problems than the dead pedal was worth.

The upside for bolting on top of the stock pedal is that the plastic will guard the carpet against water and snow from the left foot.

If you got an 08 with the sports package (the m-sport of its time) then it came with all of the M stuff except 1) M dead pedal; 2) M Door sills...not sure when the OP got her car but just sayin...cause that's why i had to do the m-dead pedal as i wanted to match with my performance pedals

I have an 08 w the sport pack and it didn't come w the m dead pedal. I thought of buying it, but esthetically preferred the matching aluminum.

In the end, I think attaching the aluminum pedals over the stock dp is the way to go.
