Ordered some goodies
I ordered Menzerna 85rd and a blue pad to polish my new JB 1er when she arrives. I also got einzett Cockpit cause I've heard great things about it.
I purchased everything from detailersdomain.com. Great, fast service; see my writeup in the vendors forums. Also purchased Z2 and ZFX to seal with from zainobros.com. I'll post up pics when she's done!

Great stuff!
I've read a couple of threads about detailing. I don't know much about it, but I'm just curious about why people never buy meguiar's products for instance. Is it not good at all? Is it too expensive? It just seem to me that all the other brands do not like "real brands", or I just don't know anything about detailing and meguiar's is just commercial stuff and you guys buy the real deal...?? Thanks |

In my experience with Meguiar's, it's just not good. It doesn't gloss that well and it doesn't last long. I've wasted about $30 on Meguiar's and I emphasize wasted. I've tried them a couple of times and just wasn't satisfied with the product at all. I believe it was called Gold Class, or Class Gold Wax.

Meguiar's stuff is not too bad. I was at a car show and saw some show cars done in the Meguiar's higher end products and the result were awesome. If you are into detailing then there are superior products on the market. A trip to detailersdomain.com or autopia.org will show all the good stuff that is out there. I think most people on this site are using the higher end products. A product like Mequires Gold class (as mentioned by Megaman) can't compete with a Zaino or Menzerna product. Still I woudn't say all Meguires stuff is bad.

I would. IMO (and everyone's opinion will obviously differ), Turtle Wax does a better job than Meguiar's and costs less too.
Then again, I actually prefer Turtle Wax; it's my #1 choice.

A lot of people will have a lot of different opinions, but after a lot of research, I'm going with the following to prep and seal my new Jet Black 1er:
Menzerna 85rd Polish Applied with Blue Pad on Random Orbital polisher purchased from detailersdomain.com Zaino Z2 seal activated with ZFX Applied and removed by hand purchased from zainobros.com I use Griots garage items for car wash, leather care, and rubber dressing. griotsgarage.com Again, just my opinions. I will take pics when I'm done!

Thanks ffor the tips.
I'm kind of new to detailing. When I used to live in France it was really hard to come by really good products. We don't know much about real detailing, so I read a lot of stuff about it this weekend. Here is my wish list
Do you mind telling me what do you think about this list? Is it better do apply Z2 by hand? I'll also send pictures when I'm done. I expect to receive the car by the end of the month. Thanks. |
