i wouldn't bet on these cars having a true market as low as reflected in these residuals ... it's just a conservative approximation with sufficient padding. Personally, anything that makes the 1er not as commonplace as a 3er makes me happy.

WOW, those are silly numbers. Might have to buy outright instead, or go to a Corvette.

Not claiming to be Karnac or anything, but for my 24 month lease on the 128i Cv, I used 74% residual in my pro forma calculations...ergo, I don't see those residuals as being too unfair or surprising.

For me personally, it would be 749 a month, on an ED lease. 36mo, 42800 MSRP, 40400 ED price. .0034 MF (8.16% APR). Residual based on 42800.
That's about in line with a Z4MC, or a C6 Vette. Pretty nutso.

I'm getting around 8.2% for an ED lease... that is absolutely OBSCENE.
That is more than a walk in quote on a used car from my local bank with average credit. They are obviously using this to make money, but I can't believe it is that bad. I figure my payments are the same on a lease vs. buy and I'm paying more cap with the buy option, plus no lease termination fees. GARBAGE! |

I'll have to talk to my dealer some more, but I think those lease numbers are unjustifiable for a 40 thousand dollar car.
My options at this point are: -Pay in cash -Buy something else These lease rates are more expensive than a comparable lease on a Z4MC, or C6 Vette, so I may be going that way. Also more expensive than a 335i coupe by a good margin. If I WEREN'T doing ED, the lease numbers would be north of 800 a month for 36 months. To be blunt, those are HIGHER than Cayman S numbers. A quick internet search found a local dealer advertising $695 a month for a Cayman S with 3k down... I think BMW doesn't want people leasing this car.

i had by buddy run the numbers (he is an Infiniti finance manager) and even if the money factor goes from .0031 to .00245 we are only talking about $30/month
these might be my last few days being a "1addict" |

No doubt, I think BMW has made a mistake. I think that this car is going to be hot, but not a necessity. It is enough to make me want to walk away from BMW as my next car and that is not good--being that the 335i may be cheaper I don't quite know how I feel about the brand in general.
Before those ask "what did you expect", my answer is that the market this car is in or was hoping to hit does not want to spend that much money on this car. I wanted a cheap little fun car that wasn't going to break the bank since it will sit a lot in my garage. It's not an M (just proclaimed by some of those around here), not a tii, just a fun little car that was more affordable than its bigger brother. Big mistake BMW, IMHO. |

ya I think that I am going to hold off on the 1er for now, thats just too much money for this car when considering I didnt even get leather and I have a place in L.A. where I can get a fully optioned 335i sedan for 510 w/tax or insted of the stripped down 135 for 489 w/tax and 8k down...
