So all I have to do is jack up the car and take off the summers and swap them with the winters? I purchased from Tire Rack so they will come mounted and balanced. Did you need to do a wheel alignment?

Yes, narrower tires are better in winter.

No, no alignment is necessary when switching over to winter rims.

Temps are supposed to go up this week so I'm putting it off until maybe Thanksgiving.
I think the OEMs are boring as winter wheels. I don't know how some of you can bear the sight of some of those 17" wheels on your baby.

Here is my winter set on my 135 convertible. It is 18" with Falken winter tires, it is only $200 more than 17". See link below:

Why wouldn't you get the 17's then, and save $200?

That's 10 lapdances!

its been harder then I thought to look at the 17s. Least the black rims still have some "wow" factor for me, and they'll only be on till march-ish.

So you're going to go out in subzero weather in the snow, and admire your winter rims?

I park in my driveway right outside my bedroom window, so I spend a lot of time looking at my car.

$1200 is cheap versus your car/life!

With cheap 17" Chinese-made Elbrus wheels, Blizzaks, AND TPMS sensors, I was out the door at around $1200 incl. shipping last year. If you don't mind looking at the TPMS warning light all winter, you'll save ~ $160.

Nicer wheels will cost more, but you can't go wrong with Blizzaks. Gill at Tire Rack can hook you up.

For shame. If there's a lady in my life that I'll throw money at she's got 4 wheels.

The only reason to go with 17s is if you've got real bad pot holes to worry about. Since 90% of the time I'm driving on very familiar roads, I'll take my chances with 18s. I just can't get past the dork factor that 17s give a 135i.

Surprisingly, I can't see potholes when they're filled with snow. I'll pick function over form for winter rims.
