12/08 production and still on original battery... i am starting to get a bit worried on longer trips
Any good options out there for replacement? Any deals that people have received from dealers with coding?

08 Vert 35K miles, I operate the top w/ the car off and yet battery is still going strong.
When I store the car for a month or more I remove the negative side of battery. I still need to take it for the recall ~ ! |

78k and still have the original battery. Replacing inz in the next week or so, I keep getting intermittent "Personal Access Convience Group Failure" codes.

07/08 build, 50k and still on the original battery.
No issues so far, knock on wood. I do put a battery tender on it while in winter storage...

12/2007 build date, 52000 km. only summer driven, no issues. Had the car sitting for a couple hours while doing various coding and it fired right up, my previous BMW (09 E90) sat for less time and needed a boost after the same coding, but it was driven year round and not garage stored.
Will be going DIY on the change, probably summer 2016

So I go to start the car this morning and I knew something was wrong when the dash took 3 seconds to light up. I started panicking because i knew that it hit -30 last night, -19 when I went to start it. Car took 3 seconds to start before managing to catch and cough into life. It sounded like a diesel for about a minute after starting. I think that after 6 1/2 years it's finally time for a new battery.

If the car started at -20, regardless of what it initially sounded like, I wouldn't change the battery. We used to use dipstick or block heaters at that kind of temperature (so you could get oil to the engine in a reasonable amount of time) and sometimes kept the battery inside the house at night. Even synthetic 0 weight oil gets thick at -20. Even good batteries have trouble generating the cranking amps at that kind of temperature. I might check the CCA for the battery but I wouldn't just replace it. Seems like it did OK.

Times up. Just got my new bat. 6 1/2 years and 88K. Dash info was getting goofy. Low voltage is what the dealer said.

Seems like JimD was right. It doesnt look like there was any permanent damage after the -30 night. The car doesnt have any issues starting, even after sitting for a week. Looks like im still going on the factory battery! Last edited by BrokenVert; 01-27-2015 at 08:41 AM.. |

03/08 30k miles and still on original battery though when left sitting for more than a week the battery seems sort of weaker and needing more time to start.

When I lived in Singapore I did not see much point in owning a car. But, the public transit system in S'pore is quite good.
