No, but for ~150 dollars you can get a tilting 3 series one which fits on e82.

The headrest posts are identical in spread between the 1er and 3er, and the e9X headrests will physically fit into the two holes on the top of the e82 seats. There is an issue though that I did not realize until I put the e82 headrests in the e90. The front cushion comes out about an inch further on the E82 headrest, and made using those in the e90 pretty uncomfortable.

Likewise, since you only gain about an inch from tilting the headrest forward for the e90 headrests in the 1er, it's simply not worth it to purchase e9X headrests for the 1er.

Lastly, as Robert stated, each headrest in leather are $249, and $149 in leatherette. I can think of mucho better ways to spend $500 on these cars.

Hope that helps.

There really are more and more little details between the cars that keep coming out. Not important things but definitely things that you can point out where the extra money went to between the cars.

Headrests
Ambient lighting
cupholders
rear arm rest
dash board plastic

Admitedly not overly important things but they are the little details.

What's different with the ambient lighting? I definitely like the difference in cupholders, because they suck in the E90.

I thought I would care about the head rests, but now that I think about it, out of all the things that I adjust to fit me, I always skip the head rest. Then again, I never have my head against that thing. And at the dealership yesterday, every car I sat in and adjust for me, always forgot to do the head rest adjustment. Thats just me though.

Whats this I hear about dash board plastic though Redwood?

I am actually bummed about the headrests. If the 3 series headrest improved upon the 1 series even just a little bit, I would consider the swap.

There are times with certain cars, that the driver's headrest really needs to be adjusted. Fortunately, the 1-Series headrests are not intrusive in their default position, and do not really require any major tweaking.

A couple of members might have giant heads or pin heads, but usually a BMW forum doesn't have members with those kinds of issues... the Lexus forum, however? Now, THAT's where you'll find some pin heads!... LOL.

I hear you....to be totally honest, part of it for me is that the 3series headrest is just so much nicer to look at. It's like the 3series has the sport headrest and the 1er has a bench seat headrest...LOL. I'm sure I'll get used to it as it is a minor complaint.

The E92 and E93 have a lighting strip that runs along both front doors and along the sides in the back. They illuminate amber at night and give the cabin a nice glow. I love that feature. I drive at night just to enjoy it.

I hear you... I actually had mine swapped on the e90/e82 for about a month (both are terra), and it wasn't until I drove the e90 that I realized that it wasn't going to work. Also, even though it looked a slight bit better, being tilted forward, it made no difference driving the car, and probably hurts the car, safety wise (or rather, has the potential to hurt me).

FWIW, the rear headrests that we get in the US/Canada market are no bargain either, compared to the nice folding ones that most other markets get.

This is true, but I think we've determined that the premium equipped e82 cars have amber down lights in the rear passenger ceiling light cluster that serve as their ambient lights.

Just pointing out differences in the little things. Again, not earth shattering but definitely small quality difference.

The cupholders in the e9x are nice because the pop out of the dash and are usable if you want them and unobtrusive if you don't. Putting cupholders in an inconvienent location like the 1 series is not a superior solution. They should have put them in the dash.

We can't have everything. I want the integrated navi or retractable shades, but those arent even in my mind when it comes down to me and the car.

My Porsche has very cool in-dash cupholders. I like them, and the way they function... but I do not believe they are quite as sturdy as the other types.

Anyway... back to headrests!!

Is anyone gonna try to retrofit those ambient lighting bars that run along the inside of the doors? I was thinking about doing this if they fit OK, it looks like their is the same seem as the one on the 3 series that it can fit into.

I don't put my head back far enough to actually touch the headrest, so this is no big deal to me.

doesn't your neck hurt after a while when you don't rest your head backwards? i usually don't either but then on long drives, i would put my head back a little.
