Is your suspension setup stock? If so, it should be fine. I'm running 235/40/18 on a slightly lowered setup + m3 front control arms and I have ~4mm of clearance.

I'm using 225/40/18 on my stock staggered wheels and they work great. Canadian sport pkg. used same tire size as 135's and I find a much better balance for our cars w/ the 225's. If I was replacing wheels I'd go with the 8" rather than 7 1/2". My 7 1/2 front, 8 1/2 rear works fine but 8"would be ideal.
