Got my E46 M3 transmission mounts installed!!!
These are awesome. They are a direct fit. I got them installed by a good shop for $74 plus $20 for each mount. It does add some whine to the car when moving around below 25mph but I personally like it. Sounds more like race car!
As far as vibration, there does not seem to be any increase at lower RPM, highway cruising, etc. But you will notice some when your at/above 4-5k. At those speeds they do put off more noise and a good bit of vibration but that shift into the next gear is so precise! The lever just goes right in. It is also easier to get into 2nd from 1st. I'm very pleased and will easily tolerate the extra noise/vibration. |

I let the shop buy the mounts. But you can buy them at turner, getbmwparts, ecstuning, basically anywhere you can get BMW parts

Do you gain any performance by replacing this part?

Did the E46/M3 transmission mount swaps last summer as a DIY. Take less than 60 minutes if you take your time.
Amazing mod! Also did CDV delete, BMS clutchstop, and Redline D4 ATF. I use to have sloppy shifts at the track, and the E46/M3 stiffer mounts really helped reduce transmission twisting and moving under load.

Could someone explain the transmission mounts to me please? What does this do? Any point in doing it to a 128i with Steptronic?

Beneficial for manual transmission only, to help with missed shifts, as soft original transmission mounts tends to twist and bend under hard acceleration/deceleration. This movement makes shifting to different gears or heel and toe more difficult.
