Best way to sell a financed car?

Not a bmw but I sold my seadoo boat on craigslist in one day literaly. I owed 18k to my bank and the buyer just made a check for that amount to my bank. We were both at my bank and both signed a bill of sale i think with the bank notary lady. I let the man take the boat since it was now paid off. The title came to me under my name a week later. I signed the title and a power of attorney paper and sent them to him. That was it. I think i was extremely lucky to find a buyer that fast that had the funds and didnt mind the troubles of all the bank transaction crap.
