Have you seen pics of the new Z4's & M coupe? Or how about the 650 & M6, they all have handles for both the driver's and passenger's doors. Maybe I'll say screw the E92 M3 and get a 650i instead just so I can have a decent freakin handle like my passenger does! Too bad I like the look and design of the E92 better though. I'm still pissed I don't get a decent handle but my passenger will!

Are you considering an E90 or E92?

I don't find the angle awkward at all. My wrist is in a pretty neutral position when I close the door on my Passat. My shoulder is extended backward. My elbow is flexed.

Yes. It'll be a few years before I'm in a position to buy one. Thinking 335i or M3. We'll see. By the time I'm ready to buy, the 335i will probably have been out for a year or two. Who knows? I may even postpone it for a couple of years beyond that, which may mean that I'll catch the M3 a couple of years after its release. I imagine I'll catch the E90 or E92 around mid-cycle, maybe around the time of the E90 or E92 mid-cycle refresh.

That's encouraging. Maybe I'm getting myself all worked up about this for nothing. Perhaps BMW designed the handle in such a way that it closes comfortably without the traditional angled handle.

I was considering waiting a few years after the 335 & E9x M3 is released as well, but somehow I don't think I'll be able too. I'll probably be down at the dealership the first day they have the E92 on the showroom floor, and then again when they recieve the first E92 M3. My wife will have to do the talking because all I'm going to be thinking about is......

After owning an E92 for a while, I have to say that I've gotten over not having a proper door handle for the driver but still I miss the hefty door handle of the E46. I would've preferred to have same handle my passenger gets though.

I never once wished I had a handle like the passenger side or thought it was awkward shutting the door in my E92.

I don't see that handle as an issue.

Have you noticed they were different?

yeah noticed it when I first got the car but it never seemed odd to me because of the window switches on the drivers side

I actually just made a post about this. I was hoping to get a uk passengers side, which would be our drivers side, and retrofit the windows controls onto it. I hate that both sides are not even, and the big door handle looks so much better to me.

Perhaps BMW should have made both door handles the same and put the window controls on the center console?

I remember them on the center console in my old E46.

I've had my E92 for a week now and never really noticed that the door handles were different between the driver's and passenger's side until this thread. I've been managing to close the door just fine using the recess in the arm rest to pull the door closed. And, I've found the position of the mirror and window control to be almost perfect.

Don't know why they didn't make the passenger's side the same, but I'm happy with the driver's side setup as is.

Was the OP really considering not getting an e9x car just because the drivers side door handle is too small? That seriously leaves me baffled.

The only handles a driver needs. The other one is an oh-shit handle for the passenger, imho, and they need plenty of those

I never missed a handle, and you get used to the window controls.
Not really a deciding issue for most people I think?!?
