DINAN Exhaust or BMW Performance Exhaust?

Hey everyone! I am just trying to figure out what exhaust to put on my 2011 135i. I am torn between getting the DINAN free flow or the BMW Performance exhaust.

Thoughts?

The PE cheaper and come with the Y-pipe and sound great. I would say go with the PE. Beside exhaust only give you mean sound anyway.

BMW PE is louder. Some people complain that the BMW PE drones at highway speed. I don't know if they all do. I do know my Dinan exhaust does not drone. I prefer the note of the Dinan, but I think that's personal taste. Which tips you prefer is also personal taste.

Am I missing something? The Dinan costs $1299.00 and the BMW PE is $1250.00. Not much difference in price...

The PE comes with a Y pipe. The dinan you actually have to cut your stock axelback and weld it on.

Both exhausts burble a lot. I agree the BMW performance exhaust is slightly louder than the dinan probably due to the Y pipe alone.

Some people have suggested the BMW performance may be a stock 135 muffler with the Y pipe and chrome exhaust tips and the exhaust note change be simply attributed to the Y pipe. They look identical but we wouldn't know unless someone cut one open.

Thanks guys! The input really helped

I have been hearing a lot of good things about both.

As for pricing, yeah they are very close. I think I am going to go with the Dinan, does anyone know if its a full system straight from the headers, or if the pipe size is any bigger? The guys at BMW have not really told me much about it.

I have the BMW Perf Exhaust on my automatic 08 135i....I did not install the y pipe ( although it is sitting in my garage) , I also have the Dinan stage 1 tune and ETS larger intercooler. For me the BMW PE is a perfect sound with ZERO drone. I bought mine on Ebay from Newton BMW for $800 delivered---a price that is hard to beat. The Y pipe eliminates the resonator and does increase sound.....I was going to install it after I lived with the axleback for a while but as I said , for me, the sound is just right without installing the Y pipe.

BTW, I originally had the Berk street axleback and for me the drone was awful.

I am running the same PE (no Y-pipe) but with an N55 mid-pipe and also no drone. Before with Y-pipe installed I had drone at cruise in the low 2K rpms. Interesting that the Berk axle-back produced drone when you had your resonator installed. I always assumed the resonator was the key to eliminating drone.

I can’t speak for the Dinan exhaust but love the PE that came on my 135is. The Dinan S2 tune makes it sound even more exotic.

I've never heard the Dinan exhaust in person so can't really comment on that. I have the PE and love it! It comes with the y-pipe which deletes the resonator. Some people have complained of drone with this set up but it's easily controlled by not letting the RPMs dip too low while cruising on the hwy/fwy by downshifting. Or if you have the Steptronic or DCT and you don't want to shift manually you can put the trans in sport mode which will automatically keep you in a lower gear. Doesn't always give you the best gas mileage but do you really need to be in your highest gear? It's either better mpg or no drone while cruising. lol

Really depends on your preference of sound, both are good options.

Yeah it's just $1200+ for a muffler or $785 for a muffler and resonator delete.
